Fake books are bad....no dots

I still have a few fake books gathering dust. One is spiral-plastic-bound with about 1000 songs in it. Hard to read even with my reading glasses on!
I pulled out my old 'David Bowie Anthology' songbook out last night to get the final chords for the song I videoed (and posted elsewhere), as it was easier to do that than to sit with the song playing, trying to figure out those last few chords myself.

I've bought a few in the beginning years. A few songs I like. Mostly crap I didn't even want to touch the page while skimming past. Just buy both complete Beatles songbooks. The Led Zep one is great, too. I've got a couple of Rolling Stones books, but they hardly ever change chords. Most of their hooks are created by having about 3 - 5 guitar parts on one song and some keyboard here, saxophone there. You can't recreate it with one guitar.

for a jazz "fake book"....i highly recommend "The Real Book" vol. 6.

it's pretty much "the bible", containing most of the tunes that you end up playing on gigs. great layout too...no page turns, and everything written in a large easy to read font.

I actually set my Tele up like Keith's the other night. Still getting used to it but I'll tell you one thing for sure - if you want to hear 'Honky Tonk Woman' sound EXACTLY right, that's the way to go.
