Everything is about change with this new media platform. For those of us old enough to remember the 80s, MTV played the same dumb videos over and over because that was all they had.

Virtual Reality will be like that for a short, short time. Then it will begin to replace your TV, your cell phone, your school. You might even have a job that can be done "virtually" from home.

There will be new communities formed around bands/music because their fans will be able to "virtually" hang out with them anywhere and anytime from now on. You can virtually fit a million people in your bedroom closet, if you want.

For anyone who has a talented band with great songs....but no clue of what I'm talking about, the sooner you get into VR communities the better. It will hit hard and fast in the next 6 months.

I can't be the only musician producing in this platform at Bandmix, right?

This is a different kind of "telework" than what you're thinking about. You can be operated on in Atlanta by a physician who is standing in India.

VR is for the visionary at the moment, the reactionaries will follow soon enough. It's not social media, though it will be used there and everywhere else. It's more like when the radio was invented and everything changed.

10 years ago wasn't it. Last year wasn't it. Today is.

Dick Tracy had an Apple watch in 1939 but it only worked in the funny pages. Now, that watch has finally come to fruition and some investors made a lot of money...but if you had invested in 1939 (or any of the years between then and now) you'd have lost all your money. Success in life is always a matter of timing.

You will convert to VR in the next year, though some Luddites will certainly stay in the past and shake their fist at the rest of the planet. Teletransporting is here and it will leave the old farts behind rather quickly.

VR is not a big deal for musicians with no ambition, but for those who are trying to go somewhere with their art, it's a new world with no rules that will burst wide open in a matter of months now. The Super Bowl (February) will be available in VR for those who want to be on the sidelines or in the end zone. Next year, you'll watch the game from the quarterback's helmet.

You can now hold an international concert without leaving home, assuming your music is good enough for an audience. I'm a bit surprised that so few here seem to understand what I'm talking about....?

I want to project a hologram from my studio to any concert stage and perform from home.

I first read about virtual reality over 25 years ago, in Whole Earth Catalog or maybe it was Whole Earth News. you had to wear a bulky headset of sorts.. I suppose you would need about the same space as the band would require to perform in your living room to have them teleported here for viewing.. or can you shrink them down to 1:24 scale LMAO.. n

There should be no doubt now why labels only look for very young people.



I can see that its a waste of time to talk about anything remotely edgy or new. How about Lynyrd Skynyrd or Molly Hatchet? Are you updated on that subject yet?

The technology to do that is already here. It's part of the VR Revolution and will be made public in a matter of months. Somehow I doubt you'll actually jump in the game though....

Thirty years ago I was sitting in Japan listening to taxi cab conversations from a laser beam coming off a satellite that picked up vibrations off the windows in Mexico. What you think you know today is old news to the OSI/NSA forty years ago. I know what VR is all about and I knew what it was all about twenty years ago. So f**k what, it still isn’t going to pay my bills. Yes it’s very cool but just remember who you are talking to!

I've got the book up on the web now and I'm starting to talk to people about producing the musical again.

One guy has a couple young bands up his sleeve and that's just what I want - for reasons you noted above.

I'm looking to thoroughly investigate VR because of the type of presentation I want. I will be hard to beat the War of the Worlds recent production but so what. I want to take a crack at .

I didn't get much out of the demos you showed me - I need to go deeper to understand how to use it. But I want the audience to feel the emotions going on in the production: fear, despair, joy, horror and even a rare moment of happiness!

It would be absolutely too cool if I could let them see what a zombie sees. Just red hate, pain and murderous rage. Just for a second though. They might enjoy it!
