Remember back to when you were playing those first cords possessed within Smoke On the Water? Or when you actually took the time to put some chords of your own together to contribute to the world with your own song? Well what the f@$k happened?!

How can you sit there now and say its too late, you as still a musically educated person with even the least amount of talent can still be remembered, sure maybe a balding 40 yr. old is not going to make it to the top, thats why i say its time to pass down the information.

Look at the music world around you, anyone with any musical sense knows that all the foundation and sh*t we've stacked high is about to fall down in a sh*t infested heap of crap..cough...rap...cough

My message to you? USE YOUR TALENT! tell your kids, your next door neighbor, anyone with a guitar, the secret of the soul and essence to the guitar, get these kids some soul dam it! I WANT MUSIC BEFORE I DIE....

I play for myself.
If I'm by myself, or if I'm playing on stage - it makes no difference to me.
I play for myself, and if other people want to dance to it - that's fine. It's nice.
But - if they didn't want to dance to it - that's fine, too . . .
Don't get me wrong; I'm glad people like my music, and glad they keep inviting me to play places - but I have no need for fame.

seanessary: As I've sat here and thought about this, I've formed an opinion about people like you who have contributed similar thoughts. I think people like you are looking at this the wrong way. It sounds like you want the music to come to you. Truth be told, the realm of music as it exists today is incredibly vast. If you're waiting to hear what you apparently consider to be inspirational material on the radio or through any mainstream means, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

What I'm saying is to quit waiting for this stuff to come to you and get out there and look for it. It's out there and it's everywhere. Start with MySpace. Look up bands you like on websites like Amazon.com or online music retailers and see which alternatives they suggest based on your query.

There are PLENTY of kids doing what you don't seem to think is being done and just about any passionate musician is going to pass on what they can simply through the nature of their being. The stuff is out there, my friend. Again, stop sitting around and waiting for it to come to you. Technology is far too advanced and too many avenues exist to search for you to be able to justify a post like this.

The aforementioned is solely personal opinion but consider the alternatives mentioned. You can be stubborn and lazy but the only person you're affecting when it comes right down to it is yourself. Perhaps the ultimate cliche: Seek and you shall find. Chalk this post of yours up as a manner of seeking, if you will. I think you only have good things to gain from here.

for the record I'd just like to say that I'm not "fisherman bob" old... just "slightly used and abused old".
Now that that is settled... I'm not sure how being in a band will make me a theological god... but I'd be willing to try it. Was david coresh musical?

I don't remember, however old I may be I'm very youthful in a lot of respects, and I have a lot of energy left for music. Despite some of the crap I've seen in the music business over the last 27 years I still have a huge drive to write and perform music. When I die somebody will probably be prying my Fender Precision Special bass from my hands (or a fishing rod, or one of my golf discs). I hardly even have any gray hair on my full head of hair, so hopefully that won't happen for a long, long time. Although lately I've been feeling very stiff except the one thing I want to be stiff. I had a friend, Jake, who died about 15- 20 years ago. He lived for the music, and we jammed about 3- 4 times a week.
We he died, I went to his funeral, and there was open-casket viewing.

His family had mounted his guitar on the open casket lid.
Honest-to-God.
It was great . . .
They buried him with his guitar.

Actually, David Koresh was a failed rock star - who decided he'd give a go to religious cult leadership. Glad that worked out for him.

49 yo here and believe me its not the age that gets ya, its the mileage..lol gave up on being a god along time ago, now i write and compose, only takes one to make it. then sit back and watch the royalties roll in. will take money and a quite lifestyle, to money and fame. to darn old for that. ok got to go, need a nap, you know how it is for us old folks..lol

Cat - well, when you put it like that... well, um, it just doesn't sound like any fun at all...

irminsul - yea, he wasn't bad as far as nutjob cult leaders go... jim jones really kinda kicked his hiney with sheer numbers, and those crazy matching nike spaceship journey nutjobs really had him on weirdness overall, but the waco kidd really did manage to stand up to the goverment(this was, of course, while they were burning and running around screaming in pain).

I don't feel all that bad about my position in life now that I think of it like that... so I'm not a god... at least I'm not that poor sun of a gun that has to "swob the deck" every 15 minutes at those $1.25 XXX movie joints on sunset blvd in hollywood... so there's at least one person who has it worse than me so... that's comforting.

Bout the best living I ever made with music... make yer own hours... work 3 to 9 four days a week and get really good at your instrument doing it...
