The other option at about the same cost is Tunecore. How much 'marketing' do any of these places do for you? None. It's all about putting your music out where people can buy it - its up to you to get the word out there.

Yep. It's just a place to park your music with a transaction feature so folks can buy it. None of these promote your music in any meaningful way.

In the last year I had three releases and experimented by putting one each on TuneCore, CDBaby, and Symphonic.

The jury is still out on Symphonic because that CD only came out a month ago. For now, it seems that TuneCore is the clear winner, but I'll wait a bit longer to decide because Symphonic was started by the same people who started TuneCore and it appears to be cheaper with more benefits.

I consistently get about $100 a month from TuneCore for digital sales and publishing collected. Nothing from CDBaby yet.... though those CDs are selling like hotcakes at my merch table. (about to have my third pressing since it released last November). Worse, CDBaby's customer service is hit-and-miss. You might get someone who helps you, or you might get someone who didn't listen to a single word before making the wrong conclusion.
