My friend...what you describe should be the "Musicians Mantra".
Then finding someone that can actually use their craft, then playing the music you also play, then being able to be committed, then being someone you can work with, then the person not being a flake.
Then after everythings stacked against you...only "then" will you find the right people. :lol:

While you're waiting . . .
Keep developing your guitar-playing skills and your singing skills.
Write enough originals to go along with them, and you might have something to fall back on. if no one else shows . . .

This is certaily off topic but a "Walldog" is a Signpainters term for a person who paints signs on walls. I was one of those - RU

I also am a Michigan native and you live in my favorite part of the state. Too bad that I'm too far away to help you out.

I have a cousin in Muskegon.... haven't talked to him in awhile... he's a pretty awesome drummer...
