One 40 minute set each? I applaud bands who get up and do this - no chance for sound check, hope everything works when you plug in!

That's how most clubs in Deep Ellum (Dallas) roll, but it's usually less time 20 or 30 minutes.

The Door has a sound guy that pulls it off very well...but back when we played there, I always wanted to be opening band because that's the only band that got more than a 2 minute sound check. People don't stay out as late anymore, either, so often we had the biggest crowd.

Plus, you can still make an evening of it elsewhere.

That truly is a great flier! If I were in Detroit I believe I'd have to check that out.

Well, I have very little exp playing multiple band gigs (I've played two in the last 6 mos and before those .....it's been yrs since the previous)

My impression was that it's bad form to cut out after your set w/o staying to support the other musicians. Do I have that wrong?

Really cool poster jimmy! Break a leg.

We did our first multi-band show in 20 years last April at the historic Fox Theater Riverside. A good stage with great lighting and lots of photographers capturing good images for our promo page. It was sorta fun but sorta aggravating. The sound guy is used to doing acoustic groups or a Indy trio and didn't have a clue about mixing a full drum kit and four guys who sing harmony. As a result we had too much drums and not nearly enough monitor mix. We shot some video which is up on our BM page but suffer the vocals which are usually the highlight of our show. We really need to set our own monitor mix. Live and learn.
