noticed that, eh?

i think it's pretty poor form to regularly post videos of YOUR shite and never check out and comment on other folks' work. there's another guy here who i won't be sending a valentine to who comes to mind as guilty of the same bit.

so, thanks.... i think i'll be taking a pass on checking your latest.

ya know....even if you don't dig someone else's work....it's not all that hard to find SOMETHING to comment/compliment upon. "community" and even just a little interest in others and their work.....that OUGHT to be what a music "forum" is about. 8)

Community is not high on the list here at the Badstrat news and conspiracy site. And it's all your fault!

That's the most reasonable reply I've heard from anyone in quite a while Mr. Derek.

The video was actually pretty hot - I like guitar posturing as much as the next man believe me and you wailed on that one. That tone is sort of what the sixties would have sounded like if the technology had been just a hair better. I liked it. Put that level of lead in a short break in a cool song and you'll rule.

cheers

thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to tell you how much I enjoyed some music you posted months ago. Didn't know you were such a good marimba player.

Sean, that's some rocking' stuff you posted. You've got Eddie down pat...and can do it for 15 minutes without a break!?

It reminds me of a guy I used to play with. When solo time came, he'd take off forever if we didn't force him to let the singer (me) come back in. We would usually do about a 30 minute solo on "Them Changes" and have enough time for one more song in that set.

But since then Nirvana basically killed the guitar solo; and I was a bit relieved when it happened. Do you find that skill useful in gaining work in Toronto? I rocked bands all the way through the 80s and loved that stuff...but now find that I need to avoid giving into that temptation. Currently my favorite guitarist (James Hilsden) fronts a power-punk-trio in Tel Aviv. I know a thousand guitarists who can do circles around him on a solo....but none who can match his ability to create the coolest groove you've ever heard.

Subtle effects landscapes, rhythmic gut punches, melodic scenery...ah...love it.
