You've got to turn on media (of some kind) occasionally! TV, radio, etc. Not a teeny-bopper/boy band guy, but a singer-songwriter from England - however he opened for Taylor Swift on her US tour in 2013, which got his name out there to that crowd. His song 'The A Team' was a hit on the radio in 2011/12 and the album went platinum. In July he'll play 3 shows at Wembly Stadium - 80,000 people per show.

How about no? Stuff gets on radio and tv because it's just right for the dumb masses.

Am I glad that someone under 30 likes a guitarist/ singer songwriter? Yes.

Is this guy doing anything for me? No. Not with that nasal voice and oversized ukulele.

Stuff gets to 'hit status' because its dumb enough for the masses - but a lot depends on what radio you listen to.
I just found it hard to believe you hadn't heard of Sheeran - news outlets had him all over the place 2 years ago, he wa son all the late night talk shows (Letterman, Kimmel, etc). Nasal voice? hate to think what you think of my stuff! I've played his song 'The A Team' live a few times. The guitar he's using is some OOO Martin model.

Do you have a version of 'The River' radio station there? It's 30%-40% "indie" music, and I'll hear (occasionally) good new stuff on the Boston station.

I buy CDs of bands I listen to and tape them, the listen to those all the time.

Radio can go F off! News, too!

But I'm willing to bet Boston radio is about 1000% better than Phx radio.
