hmmm.... no way i can do only five.
in the jazz category and in no particular order:
Erroll Garner (just makes me smile)
Hank Jones (one of THE best and most sought after accompanists)
Horace Silver (as much for his writing as his playing)
Dave Brubeck (beautiful man and humanitarian...beautiful playing.....beautiful composer)
Nat Cole (too many people only know him as a singer....killer, KILLER pianist)
Horace Parlan (probably best known for his work w Mingus...childhood polio left him limited use of his right hand so he developed an interesting style that leaned heavily on his left)
Lonnie Hewitt
Bill Evans (beautiful voicings)
and on organ:
Jimmy Smith
Jack McDuff
Jimmy McGriff
Shirley Scott
Charles Earland
