What bands or performer hasn't left the stage for a time during their career?

I think she is probably counting all the money she made. More power to her, she earned it. (Not a Lady GaGa fan)

You can make all the recordings you wish, and you can advertise and promote them until hell freezes over. But unless you have something people want you can only give them away. Fans purchased her CD's and attended her performances because they wanted to, not because they were forced at gun point.

Sometimes you just have to quit performing to rest up and take the time to count your cash. Maybe that's what she's doing.

Day late and a dollar short.

His rapping was atrocious.
His career moves were all about "there's no such thing as bad publicity". Nice guy on a Howard Stern interview, but for my tastes, why can't he just go away?

Lady G can actually sing, and writes her own music. More than you can say for most of the 'pop divas' out there. I didn't like her style, but did you hear her Sound of Music Medley at the Oscars?

I'd sooner listen to Kevin Bacon, Keanu Reeves, Jared Leto, Russell Crowe, et al. Just celebrities, playing rock musicians on the weekend.

Well guys - there is always Tarja Turronen and Simone Simons if you want real talent.

I'm careful what I say about other players though. I always assumed Taylor Swift was just a pop singer air head but saw her do a duet with Mick Jagger that changed my mind.

When she sang 'country' (that new style) she was actually quite good, but then someone decided she could make lot smore money going full-on pop, and that's when the lip-synching and autotune started. I don't think she's an airhead, but she's no genius either - I'd guess her management makes the real career decisions for her.
