It's not like CL makes money from your ads, Bob .... You've just got to be more circumspect in figuring out who is worthy of looking at when you get responses. And even then, you've got to weed through the chaff.

I guess they'll just have to get by on the prostitution, drugs, stolen stuff and men seeking tri-sexuals.

Sorry to hear that, but I gotta admit, that stuff is my morning funnies. All of the attack posts. Apparently, everyone is better than everyone else, who in turn, suck worse than everyone else!

The signal to noise ratio is pretty low on CL but I still find it a useful tool. I word my ads carefully to attract real talent and discourage losers. I also get very selective about responses and only invite 1/20 to come jam with us. We have found good players this way but referrals from our network of trusted area musicians is always my best source. Maintaining relationships with top players in the area takes time but is a gold mine in the end because we trust each other and often share projects together. I just try to leave everyone with good vibes if possible and never burn bridges with anyone ever. Bad vibes tend to multiply exponentially throughout the grapevine.

I've never come up with anything except flakes and posers on CL

hahha! Too true! I saw an ad the other day from someone listing 3 or 4 bands as 'influences' and not one band name was spelled correctly!
