What are you offering that's any better or different than all the other possible places to post music?

Hey Mike!

Thanks for looking into it. Once we get things in order as far as coding goes, we will start the contests where artists can win cash prizes for being ranked top in their respective categories.
Also it will be more of a community driven site where your voice is heard. If you want a function added/deleted then the input from everyone will drive the change.

And how does the 'ranking' happen? An independent group of judges, or the number of fans/friends each artist can get to sign up and vote? These internet popularity contests can actually hurt artists as they spam their friends too often to try to get them to 'vote for them'.

More of an anonymous type of contest. You submit and people view/listen to the submissions without knowing the identity, until the contest is complete.

music as competition? yeah, i know there's a long tradition of that, but thanks all the same...think i'll pass.
