i've recently started playing in this retro country band ....Katie Jo and The Tavern Rattlers. mostly a $hits and grins "rehearsel band".....we've played a cpl of gigs but it's mostly getting together playing tunes, drinking an adult beverage or three, shooting the $hit and having fun.

Katie Jo had been messing around w the old van Morrison tune "Into The Mystic" and taught herself the changes (mostly timing/duration of how long chords are held) wrong. we all loved her feel concept (slow country shuffle) but we had to try to straighten out how the changes would go....

Guess that's as close as she's getting for ItM?! I've heard some people trying this song recently at open mics with versions that are so far off I didn't recognize the songs until they got to the 'chorus'!

ItM=in the mean time????

you whippersnappers and your fancy, schmancy abbreviations!

her way of playing it (holding the V chord too long) made sense in it's own way. to be a good a sport i tried it her way a few times...and it was just too crooked for me! THE 121's (my truck stop band) play a "straight version" of the tune and it just makes sooooooooo much sense as written. i do like her country swing take.

we took a break after recording that take...came back to it after awheile, and she did much better at hearing the changes. for now it's a WIP (see, mike ....i can abbreviate too!), but it should be cool once we get the bumps ironed out. 8)
