haven't seen you around these parts lately but since you never made it to my FL gigs back in Dec, i thought i'd extend an invite to some CO gigs i'll likely be playing in July.
the wife and i will be renting a place in Dillon CO for the month of July. while there last yr i made the acquaintance of a fine jazz gtrst there at one of his band's gigs. i introduced myself to him
and we've kept in touch. upon learning that i'm gonna be there for the month of July, he's invited me to play some gigs with his band. (These guys were GOOD)
naysayer you are, you'll no doubt spin this as some hoax or fiction that i'm laying out so here's the email i just got from him...
P.S. schmed asked me to tell you that he misses you!
in all seriousness, this is great news because even though i planned on bringing instruments w me (like i could ever go a MONTH w/o??!?!) and would be playing and woodshedding......the idea of getting to play some gigs while there is most welcome.
his note:
Hi Mark,
I apologize for the delayed response. There has been some illness among the band members and I have not been focusing on gigs that far out.
I listened to your excellent vids and very much enjoyed your band and your playing.
In July, we will be playing our usual Friday night gig and could use a bass player during part of that month. I would also like to fit in your vibe playing. Do I see that you also play standup bass?
Just to check, would you be comfortable reading jazz changes from charts of songs that may be new to you? Our sax player has a habit of opening the Real Book (6th ed.) to any page and then he starts to count off.
Let's chat.
Looking forward to playing with you in July - Peter
