Life in the Q-Zone - Talbot strikes again

Men
This ain't as good as it ought to be for this forum - however I owed a recording to a vocalist and I'm running late (acute Bronchitis) because I couldn't' sing at all. (as opposed to singing badly - my norm.)
A whole new project: Apocalypse of the Mind. Includes 17 songs and a complete script. I wrote almost all of it and now I'm learning to use recording software to present it.
Originally created to be a multimedia performance project but has morphed (thanks to my techie partners in crime) to much more. This particular song was created to support the first APP based delivery of the "product": i.e. a computer game, a song, some text and hopefully a vid. Ultimately this will also function as a support channel for our fans and launch from a web site, Facebook and whatever. (I pay close attention to threads on promoting music)
Plot - this song and the game are actually from the end of Z-War I (from the larger script which chronicles a zombie outbreak and the freakish human reactions to that.)
In this song (and the game) Humans have defeated the Zombie menace. But everyone is half nuts. I'd read that twenty vets a day are killing themselves from PTSD from these shitty little wars the govt likes to play at. What if EVERYBODY had been a soldier or a terrified refugee? The biggest fear at this point is the future of human viability. If the suicides get too high - it's over.
And what if the Zombies come back?
The song's full title is "Life in the Q-Zone: PTSD for Lovers," and looks into the daunting world facing soldiers at the end of the war. For the really stressed out folks there is the Q-zone on the border of the FINAL LINE. Where the zombies where hopefully, finally defeated. These soldiers will be soldier/farmers/technicians - the motto of the Q-Zone (from govt perspective anyway) is "Come down slowly." Ammunition and chill pills are free in the Q-zone. The transition from Soldier to Civilian should be easier this way...
There are many who don't believe women should be at the front line. But when the threat is internal and utterly without mercy - it's Katy Bar the door... Anybody who can fight does fight.
this song focuses on how bizarre it will be for young lovers who have been fighting side by side for God knows how long. And now it's time to just be folks again. Sadly, they never had that opportunity to just be folks before and now it's all new and terrifying to them.
This is going to be a storyboard and hopefully much more:
Video – A rough looking couple of ‘soldier’ types covered in armor and weapons; look at each other in wonderment. They are plainly lost. One holds out a hand and another pulls off a helmet exposing long, stringy blond hair: we see they are a man and a woman...
This ain't perfect but should give you an idea of where the song and the script are at. Towards the end, the chorus is repeated twice - I missed one line (distracted by hungry cat) just so you'll know. in the interest of getting something moving I decided to ship anyway. (I'm close to being able to fix such things in my software but not close enough)
The 'real' vocalist is a young lady with a deep immersion in the arts and a lot of talent. I'll post her version and junk this soon as I can. We rehearse Sunday. Ultimately I want to put together a band of young, arrogant and supremely talented shitheads to take this whole production on the road. One caveat - I play when they are in Atlanta!
Note that this version does not include the concert version extras (yet).
Please note - I've been mentioning this in posts and thought it was time to give some details. Please critique the song and recording but go easy on the vocals. I'm a songwriter and player but never been much of a singer. This is geared towards almost a show tune vocal with interruptions of real warrior / lover angst - the music is written to include orchestration and much more than my very skeletonesk guitar work shows here.
Cheers
Talbot
PS just for grins: this is the video I wrote to depict the govt add for veteran shooters to move to the Q-Zone:
//-------------------------------------------------------------
// Video – Recruiting Vid for Q-Zone Service (upon completion of ZWar I)
(usual cheesy sort of ad - need a smarmy newsreader)
“Thank you for your service”:
“There are many options for the returning soldier! Are you a farmer? A machinist? A nuclear physicist? A laborer…?
Oh...No skills eh?
In the Safe Zones even laborers must have a Psych Evaluation which can often mean lengthy therapy, a lot of drugs, and no weapons; that’s right – no weapons. But that shouldn’t be a problem – the threat is officially over anyway. There are police and militia to protect you.”
Brief silence to allow paranoia to take hold
“There is another option:
It’s called the Q-Zone. Ammo and Medication are free. Part time soldiers learn various trades with an emphasis on farming and technical skills.
The Q-Zone was created to watch the boundaries. Not a hard job for combat hardened vets like you – particularly since Mr. Z hasn’t made an appearance in months.
Why rush the change from soldier to civilian? It can be traumatic.
Let it come down slowly.”
(Spoken – almost chanted: ) Video – The Q-Zone recruiting advert and slogan
Played with muted strings 4 hits per bar, 2 bars then
B muted to G down to Emin x 4 (hold the final Gmaj)
Come down slowly…
We’ll just come down slowly…
We’ll just come down slowly…
Come Down!
D# Dmaj G#5 Gmaj5 (all going downward, all power chords)
Gmaj Fmaj
