Hi All,

I thought I might start a thread about music promotion online. I'm often searching for the best way to do this - and also the newest tools out there.

I've been using souncloud for most of my online presence and to share my music.
https://soundcloud.com/whitetie/

I have tried quite a few ways to promote my music: Social media, email, cloud killers and myspace.
The most recent discovery I made was http://www.playpushr.com/
It lets you play your tracks on repeat and share them on multiple social networks. It also adds your soundcloud track to a personal page which is SEO enabled.

Hope it helps.

Anyone have any other suggestions to promote themsleves for free? Free is good (not much money as an artist :? )

Free sites do not do promotion - they are merely places to host your info. You have to do the real work yourself.
Reverbnation is good in that there are no limits to the number of music files you can have there, but they do not host videos (but link to youtube or vimeo is easy). If you pay them, you can use their bulk mailing features, but as the email lists are just other musicians on the site, that's not much good.
Except for Bandmix, all the places host compressed files -soundcloud's compression algorithm can really mess up a file if you upload an MP3, so only upload full WAV files, which then get converted).
