It's pretty cool; at one of the open mikes I occasionally host, I had a fellow sing a few songs; the audience was captivated.

I would love to see and hear someone pull this off in an acoustic coffee house type gig, but these videos don't really do anything for me. If you can't Mic it right, I can't really say what I'm hearing. I guess the thing that it reminds me of is playing around with the parameters on my MicroKorg synth, while holding down the keys. Without lyrics or accompaniment, meh.

I saw a group of Tibetan Throat Singers (I think that's where they came from ) a few years ago, similar sound - a drone and an eery warbly high pitch at once.
