No one said its easy! If you're not getting a response - is it possible that they are no longer looking? When was the last time they updated their profile?

Look for folks 'active in the last month' and search by zip. I hate to say it but it was several months before I got any decent feedback - but then it came and I ended playing with all sorts of folks.
Two years later I'm working with one of the those (and sometimes his band) so I know it can work.
Keep the faith brother and good luck.

The last 2 bands I was in found me here, so it does work, if you are diligent and keep your profile updated. I'm also getting new people coming to my open mics from contacts here.

It's the same here in the UK too, we have no excuse as we are quite a small island but still finding people/musicians/bands seems to have just got a lot harder. I can only assume people are diverted with the latest iThingy, or clickerty-click of the "I want it now" online world.
Just got to keep trying I guess.

One thing I have noticed with many of the people who put profiles here on Bandmix and Craigslist ads: they are wannabes - they don't have half the experience they claim (if they say they have any), and many times they are just 'at home' players who have never gigged (or only did limited things long ago) and don't have the knowledge/drive/dedication (pick 1) needed to play in a band.

Mike
It ain't hard to claim too much - I worked hard to keep Bandmix from listing me as playing bagpipes and flute and all sorts of stuff.
But yeah, your point is well taken.
Has any body used the online audition feature? I've had several requests and said yes at least twice and then zero. Not sure how that is supposed to work.

I've questioned that 'online audition' feature before, no one seems ot know how it works!

It's easy to find a band that wants a bassist. It's completely another thing to find a band that you really like and would go the extra mile for. (and that's exactly where you are at as the bassist)
The bands around here act like they need you but you bore them.
The offer you the slot as they yawn in your face.
Well, any setup that bores either you or them is probably going to be a waste of your time...

Welcome to BM - putting a profile or ad out there is just a 'first step'. Use the search feature to look through profiles in your area. Go to other peoples' gigs, network with them. Go to open mics in your area - even if you don't' play solo, this is still a chance to meet and talk to others.
