Swapped out the machine heads for lockers, and just put them on last night before sleepy time - so I haven't had a chance to put them through their paces yet.

Initial impressions:
Very nickely, even though the Rock Set is a blend.
Very bendy. Maybe too much so for this gauge on the 24.5 scale PRS.

Give me a few days and I'll be able to tell you my pros and cons.

09 - 046 and you say they have slack on a 24.5??? yeah, i can believe dat!

before you send along the extra set you generously offered.... maybe you should wait a few days to see if ya dig them.

and then, if they're not for you, send 'em along and how bout i send you this set of Xaviere Stainless Flatwounds (the GFS set XSF1148) that i think ya should try?

they're flats but they have pretty good flex for a 11-48 set...the basses last forever and that buttery smooth feel and tones of flatwounds....well, no one needs to hear me drone on about that any further. 8)

i use these on my "Jazz tele"...the thinline Warmoth (semi hollow body and rw f/b strat neck). love 'em. and they're CHEAP!

yes gracie.....strat necks DO fit on tele bodies (check Blind Faith era Clapton vids and photos).....and no, neither the inverse NOR the opposite is true (nyuk, nyuk). ....tele necks will NOT fit on strat bodies w/o mods.

i've done this experiment w several different necks and bodies over the yrs. ALWAYS the same result.

and now, truth be told.....when i pointed that out to slacker (who insisted it was exactly the opposite).....well, that was the end of our honeymoon!

gee, i sure hope THAT ain't why he vacated the premises. 8)

I used a Precision Bass maple neck on a Jazz bass body s and it worked just fine. Best bass I ever owned.

I've never played flatwounds in my life, sir, so that's a bit scary. But if you really think so...
I'd hate to waste good stuff due to my cretinous ways.

I'll give it a day or two with these S.O.B.s, but so far I'm not blown away or anything.

yep...i've done the P and J bass neck swap too.

i own a Japanese made FENDER J Bass body (60's style) and i'm continually switching necks (both Jazz necks) one is a nice japanese 70's style rosewood w big block inlays and the other is this amazing Mexican fretless neck w the most beautifully grained rosewood f/b i've ever seen. when it arrived (E-bay purchase) i was concerned that the nut slots were too low. they are very low but it was/is purrfect. i can put the strings a micrometer above the fretboard and it'll play w zero buzz up and down the neck. i don't play it quite that low but low action on a fretless is where ya really get that "mwah" and interaction between string and f/b. it gets great growl.

still....as much as i dig J basses.....i'm a P guy at heart.

well, it sounds like it's time to expand your horizons. son. these strings go for all of $3.29 a set so need to worry about tossing 'em if ya don't dig 'em.
