To me writing parodies (or parody lyrics) of existing songs can be funny, but mindless and I would suspect that 99% of the people in this forum wouldn't recognize the song 'Wrecking Ball' if it got played on the radio for them right now. (I wouldn't)
I heard a comedic original song player do some songs at an open mic a few weeks ago, he was good - funny and original.
Parodies of existing songs, ala Weird Al Y, is a limited comedy club thing at best these days.

My life is a joke already. Music is the only area where I'm serious, sort of.

I don't 'do' music as a way of seeking laughter.

But if it works for you . . . have fun !
