I picked up the new Strat and took it to rehearsal last night. I ran it thru all the paces and Wow this guitar is all I had hoped it would be and more. It has that distinct Stratocaster sound I was looking for and stays in tune no matter how much you wiggle that whammy bar. I gave it the old Star Spangled Banner Jimmy style test. I really give that whammy bar a workout when I do that. It was perfectly in tune when I finished! With the humbucker in the bridge position I am set to play. Pics to come tonight!

Rock on! Rosewood fingerboard or solid maple neck? Wondering what Fender's current all-maples are like. I remember my Tele needing quite a "break in" time when I bought it new in 72.

It has a rosewood neck. Actually it is Maple with a rosewood fingerboard. Early in the 80s I preferred maple by the late 80's it was rosewood! I arrived to rehearsal early to see how it sounded, take tags off and stretch the strings. I'll say that straight out if the box this thing is amazing! It needs a little break in time. I find that at this stage of my career I can pick up almost any guitar and play it with no discomfort or that unfamiliar feeling.

Couple days ago I went into GC and played every expensive strat they had.
They all sucked.
I thought the new ones felt cheaply made, and were no better than the 400 dollar ones.
I was disappointed

...
I'm glad you found one that you like Haley. I'm relieved for you!
As for me, I'm giving up the idea of a new strat and getting a music-man silhouette instead.

damn, all this strat chat has me thinking about bringing mine to tonight's PLANET gig....nah, i think i'm gonna go ahead as planned and bring my '66 GUILD Starfire II. (man....do i LOVE that gtr).
it's funny, nobody looks at you twice when you play a tele on a jazz gig.....but a strat??? seems like i've gotten grief about it everytime!

Glad you got one you like. Me, if I want a strat it's maple neck and 3 singles. I can go with other guitars for humbuckers. My old Harmony does a pretty good job these days after I replaced the tired capacitor. Soon as we start gigging I plan to look for a les paul type, maybe an Epi. I'd love to find another Washburn BT2 like the one I stupidly sold...but I had to eat, no jobs around...
What's with the camera? If you don't mind a tip, if that's a point and shoot, hold the shutter button halfway down and let it focus before taking the picture. If it's a cell phone, get a camera...lol

I wouldn't know an iPhone if it jumped up and bit me...lol...so I have no idea how to get one to focus better than that...
