Update:
Just received notice that a truly gifted guitarist, learning of our open slot asked to be a part of the project.
It had not been 72 hrs after the resignation of our fifth member.
Audition pending.
God is GREAT !

Excellent! Make sure everything is clear between the band and him on plans, expectations, etc. No sense in breaking in a new guy only to find "he didn't realize..."

Indeed.
He apparently has a pretty good drive from where he lives . . . not a good start.
However we will be meeting and rehearsing in Tyler at
Landmark on Thursday in order to meet greet and jam.
Resultant on that first meeting we will discuss the next step in the process.
Cannot help but feel excited though.

Awe come on George. They say any drive in Texas is a long drive!
Seriously though, it can be a warning bell. But he apparently knew that coming in so he should probably have the means and the time to make the dates.

And if it is good for the band I'm willing to make some compromise.
We already do an occasional rehearsal at Landmark Baptist Church in Tyler.
It's about 30 miles from our studio.
They have a large sanctuary with a nice stage, sound and lights.
With some logistics we could easily record there.
We'll see.

Was a good jam session.
Nice guy and all that.
Feel we played well together.
Much more of a hard rock type of player than our previous man, and it Really seemed to fit well into our scheme.
But it was a jam session.
He did not show any interest in getting together again.
And honestly my gut feeling is he's a great guy, just not the right guy.
So it's back to the drawing board.
Shame though because we are already booking up gigs for this month, spring & summer.

Go with your gut feeling. Unless he contacts you, just move on and keep looking.

That's the plan Mike.
Thanks!
Now to convince our ( young ) front man it's not the end of the world as we know it.
