Under the Lacy act protecting endangered trees and the wood that comes from them...
Our Government sent in 30 member SWAT teams, armed with fully automatic weapons. Turned off all factory surveillance cameras. This was 3 locations.
Then our government evacuated all employees, confiscated all the questioned wood and basically SHUT THEM DOWN.
UPDATE.
Gibson has since spent 2.5 million dollars of defense money and has been found to have done nothing wrong. The wood has been returned. They are now putting out a guitar made with that wood. It is called the Govt Guitar, for a $1000.
The only reason that seems to come up is that the CEO supported a tea party candidate... My question is why are we allowing tyranny to creep in so deeply? Think about it... SWAT teams with the ability to exterminate factory workers and craftsmen.

maybe the government was trying to save the consumer from an inferior product

Dane,
Are you really that naive about the tyranny of this government? Obama is abusing the power of government against any/all political opposition in a highly dangerous way. We really better heed the warnings!
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

Glen,
The thing that is really irritating is that several other guitar manufacturers used the same wood but were not hassled. Purley political.
Now SodaStream is a big target because they do not wish to give away their land to the terrorists that wish to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. Soda Stream mentioned Pepsi and Coke in one of their advertisements and the left began a campaign against them, from what I understand. I am going to try to find out more about it but I heard that on the Levin broadcast..

I'm not kidding you yod, my Martin D-15 re-issue (mexican martin) literally started to fall to pieces thanks to the green wood they used.. thankfully Martin has the best warranty out there, and I took it to Duane at Spfld. Music and fixed it up for free, if I had bought the guitar second hand no warranty then.. the glue joints had to be all re-worked.. yes, I stand by the remark the wood could have been inferior quality .. the different mahogany species are becoming extinct and Honduran wood mahogany is crapola..good stuff is extinct or nearly extinct

I apologize for thinking you weren't being serious. Still, it should be obvious what the motive behind this instance was, because I don't think the government gives a rip about whether a guitar is high quality, or they would have shut down Breedlove when they first started making them in Korea.

LOL. Mike your a good guy. I had a good laugh. I appreciate the fact that you are paying attention and I don't care who gets the word out. If any one still wants to live and be able to die a freeman... You better pay attention.
This time Slacker hit it smack on. This time it was done with full arms and with cameras off so that there was no evidence. This time it was simple, workers told to lie face down with a fully automatic weapon pointed on them.
This time it was pure retribution for one political view that disagreed with one that had all the power, money and the guns.
This time it was tyranny trying to get by, with a small trial test.
Next time it may be you...
