Whats up guys I am new to the forums and am looking for some critiquing/help on improving my guitar playing. Any helpful hints are welcome! I have been playing guitar for 3 years now and feel ready to start playing in a band. I am looking to keep improving and not feel comfortable where I am currently at in my evolution as a guitarist.

The link above is a improv solo that I made up while jamming with a buddy. Lemme know what you think! Thanks!

Not bad Bro! For 3 years that is some good soloing. Am I correct in assuming that is you on the SG playing lead? If so you are on the right track. Comfort zone is not a good place to be. You can't grow that way. I don't like to be a comfort zone very long. You always learn more playing in a band. I noticed you are playing your scales in blocks. You might try playing those scales laterally. In other words on 2 strings. A lot of Jazz players do that (George Benson) says it forces you to play more melodically. My advise would be to learn everything you can from everyone you can. Try to avoid playing only one style. I always learn more trying to play different styles.

Yea man, that is me on the Gibson. I appreciate the reply, I see what you mean. Small critiques like that from different people is what has made me progress to where I am currently at now. The small things add up in the long run. I definitely will mess around running down instead of across so much and see what I can make up off that. Thanks!
