Violation of the right to free speech

Somebody complained about a post a made and Bandmix took the quote off.
Regardless of the "rules of conduct" I
1) Did NOT intend my quote against a specific person
2) Firmly believe removing the quote violates my right to free speech.
3) Do NOT tolerate censorship of any kind at any time, as hundreds of thousands of Americans have died defending my right to that free speech.
Therefore, I am terminating my membership here at Bandmix.
Have a good day.

Here we go.. Well i can tell you right now what will go on here shortly.
The bitch patrol will keep complaining about god knows what and most of the people that inhabit this dump aka website will migrate to greener pastures.
Bob just left.. I am waiting to get another douche email and I am probably next.
I said before that we all should play out more and spend less time writing on this dead site.
I am guessing this is the beginning of the end. I know no one really cares, but if you thought it was bad now, try it in a few weeks.
It'll be a wasteland..
And who would complain about BOB? Who is so cowardly that they can't speak openly in a public forum?
The better question is "when you are all alone in here, will you be happy talking to yourself"? I don't think you will.

Although I did agree with the general sentiment of your missing post ... it was very harshly, morbidly, worded and very much directed at the individual who started that thread.
That in addition to other threads where you have boasted your ability to 'do a number on someones face' what a badass dude you are etc. may have inspired some of the concern.
Your right to free speech does not negate BM's right to moderate their site, a responsibility that they ultimately are held accountable for.
I have had various posts eliminated or links barred here ... big deal!
If the government censors
your Levity website .. then that would be a violation of your free speech. We are all merely guests on BM's site here.
They have the right to free speech on their site.
Would you provide space for racist free speech rants on
your Levity site? Allow anyone to paint a Rebel Flag, or Swastika, upon the side of your house ... in the name of Free Speech?

I don't know what Bob said but there has been nasty chit thrown around this place ever since I've come here. Uncensored!
You allow a certain behavior to become the norm and then poof someone gets their panties in a bunch and you decide to pay attention. If the Admin. did their job from the start everyone would know what is allowable.
Such due diligence on your part BM.

Morons!
Adios FBob! I enjoyed your tunes!

It seems Bob may have misinterpreted his 1st Amendment rights to free speech. The First Amendment protects us from "government" interference in free speech. BM is not the government and is not held to the same standard. A private for-profit enterprise has the freedom to establish rules of conduct and moderate discussions as it sees fit. "My house, my rules" applies here and we are free to abide by those rules or move along somewhere else.
Threats of violence is another area of speech that never had protection under the First Amendment, so if Bob threatened to "knock someone's block off" or "punch his lights out", it would be considered fighting words and is not protected speech:
http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictiona ... +amendment
I missed whatever it was that Bob said to cause a kerfuffle but it surprises me that admins are actively moderating now after many years of anything goes, hands-off policy. New site owners perhaps?

You know this place is DEAD. The could just discontinue this forum entirely and I rather doubt anyone would even notice.
As in barely any traffic at all. It's heyday was some years ago.
If it happened to me, I'd say "well ok" but it didn't, not yet at least.
Bob say something caustic? Are you sure? I doubt it.
I think it's a whiner.
And for anything and everything that has been said, there's been a shitload of useful information here put up by the same people over and over again.
If you don't contribute to this forum except for "yeah I like this and lemme show my picture of that", you aren't really much of a contributor.
You are just another dingdong with nothing better to do.
Bob has been here for a LONG time and he's not a johnny come-lately to this thing either.
He doesn't ratchet jaw about politics. He never really rubbed anyone the wrong way (that I can see at least) and he plays out as much as humanly possible.
He was a pretty nice fellow as well.
In short he's got me beat, hands down. So I'll be sorry to see someone that had something real to say go out the door because bmix had indigestion that day.
Even worse, they didn't even identify what it is that upset them in the control room.
Are we supposed to live in fear about what we say and do?
SHIIITTT, I never was afraid from day one and if you don't show me what your beef is, I don't know and don't really care.
Fo.rum - Noun
noun: forum; plural noun: forums; plural noun: fora
1.
a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
"it will be a forum for consumers to exchange their views on medical research"
synonyms: meeting, assembly, gathering, rally, conference, seminar, convention, symposium, colloquium, caucus; More
informalget-together;
formalcolloquy
"forums were held for staff to air grievances"
setting, place, scene, context, stage, framework, backdrop;
medium, means, apparatus, auspices
"a forum for discussion"
2.
a court or tribunal.
3.
(in an ancient Roman city) a public square or marketplace used for judicial and other business.
synonyms: public meeting place, marketplace, agora More
"the Roman forum"
IMO it sounds like the first definition..
The minute it becomes the 2nd, "a court or tribunal", you whiners can stuff it where the sun don't shine.
If you don't have any idea what's been contributed here, go back and reread some of the materials that are all part of this forum.
And I know why they changed it so that when you quit, they don't remove your posts...it's because they would never be able to replace the little bit of wisdom and knowledge that took forever to accumulate written by people like Fisherman Bob and some others long gone now.
So feel free to go tell it on the mountain, unless you have nothing to say as usual.
For the record some of you make me sick, but I figure it's the same contingent that thinks the convex of what I think.
And I don't care so much if you beat on me, I can take it and dish that sh*t out too, you little fags. But Bob? He's been trying to be at least partly PC from the get go and any of you that can't see that are just fing blind.
Stick your head in the sand, soon you'll be writing all the stuff on the forum because all the regular contributors with information and experience will have left. Why would they stay?
It's one thing to say "do not write this and specify what it is and what problem they feel it's causing". It's completely another to send an anonymous message and not even itemize what is causing the "bur under the saddle".
But don't slam Bob, he's doing what he's supposed to do by being active and playing out. The fact he shared his wisdom isn't anything I would have guessed because I see the darkness in people, as in most of them are the equivalent of vomit. But not Bob, he was true blue and he'd help you a hell of a lot faster than I would.
But Bob is gone now, so who's going to take his place? I don't think anyone will. And who's next to leave and not come back?
Well that's going to be interesting to see...could be any of a cherished few, but we're getting to the bottom of the barrel.
I know I've learned a lot from my experiences here, but don't think you can piss on me and call it rain. I'll set you straight but quick and the only way you'd get straight faster is in person.

I left and came back.
The lack of a PM function really limits this site IMHO
Like if you want chat up someone as it is now you would have to start a thread* ....
Lame-O
Most everyone who posts here is fine - a few seem to have really taken steps to be nice and get along - its that one percent who make every post about ripping people that need the spanking.
Bob was a good guy for sure
Good Luck to him

Starfish Scott, I heard that you left an acoustic meetup group I’m a member of because it was “Way too LAME”. It’s unfortunate you didn’t attend at least one of our Open Mics before leaving the group because there are benefits that our musician members find valuable. For musicians who play professionally, we send notifications promoting them and their gigs to our musician members and to multiple local social Meetup groups with whom we’re associated. It just seems very disrespectful and odd that as a fellow musician you’d take a cheap shot at a group promoting local musicians and live music, especially since you never attended one of our events. I Googled the name of your band and came up with exactly one hit which was this Blog which I see you’re also started trashing. I understand after reading your blog entries that you take pride in insulting and antagonizing musicians online. I also listened to a sample of your music which sounded like an animal giving birth in a 55 gallon drum. I guess you pat yourself on the back after recording and listening to yourself because I can’t imagine you have much of a following. We’d normally promote a band in good standing with our Meetup but your music would cause a live audience to projectile vomit and slit their wrists. I couldn’t find anything showing your band as being remotely successful or having Ever played a single gig so not sure why you’re so full of yourself. Just in case your band does actually play, we’re going to notify our friends and musical group members to spread the word in PA/NJ that you’re disrespectful toward musicians and to boycott The Starfish Protocol. We’ll also send the same notification to members of 5 various social Meetup groups in PA/NJ with whom we’re associated and from where we draw a our large Open Mic audience. I noticed you’re also a member of a Meetup group called “Gainfully Unemployed” so the time you won’t waste with our musicians group can now be spent with your unemployed kindred spirits. Maybe you should change the name of your band from “The Starfish Protocol” to something more appropriate like “Gainfully Unemployed” since that’s the status of both you and your band. That being said, our Open Mics don’t end until after 10 pm on Sunday nights so it’s probably best that you instead go to bed early so you can wake up early the next morning to look for a job. I’ll be sure to check your entries on this blog to follow you talking to yourself about this response and take note of how nobody seems to care about a single word you say. PS. If you happen to be single and attend Meetup groups to meet women, you should hide your membership in the Gainfully Unemployed Meetup because it says loser…..

Geez, I don't know who this new guy is, but I'd report him to the mods if I were you, Scott!
Reminds of a guy (in Connecticut) who really antagonized me on the Facebook Open Mics of New England group. He posted about an OM at his bar, saying that if attendance didn't pickup, it might go away.
I made a few (what I thought were) helpful suggestions like telling people in his post WHERE the event was - all he gave was a bar name, no town/state and an idea that maybe starting the OM before 9pm (with an opening act) might get more people out. He got all POed and tried calling me out - saying I didn't go to open mics, was a 'live in my parent's basement wannabe', etc. I pointed him to my web pages and shortlyafter he had deleted the original post (along with all the insults) and re-posted with the address of the bar.

Wow. 1 Post you sound very bitter. You don't like Scott... I do. No reason to be cruel in this Christmas season. Peace.
