The great divide between left and right, conservative and liberal, the silly cyber-animosity between some of you, all kind of makes me laugh sometimes. Our federal government is a work in progress sometimes (no pun intended). Our Constitution is a living, changing documents. Bills can be amended. We don't HAVE to completely eliminate them. Keep those parts that are good and tweak those parts that are bad. People who are emphatically either or are missing the boat. Take Obamacare. While it is obvious that parts of it are bad, it is also obvious that parts of it are good. We all need to sit back and breathe deeply, and deal in good faith with each other looking at this huge piece of legislation and decide what to keep, what to tweak and what to get rid of. EVERY industrialized country on Earth has some form of national healthcare. There shouldn't be a single person denied healthcare in this country, or have to be financially ruined by it.
And for crying out loud, you guys who continually bash each other, I'll bet if you met in person, would be great friends, and probably make good music together to boot.

I agree with all of that except the premise that there are "good" things about Obamacare.
If you accept that premise, we are done as a free society (if that hasn't already happened)

If you put bondo on a car that was totaled, it will never be a safe vehicle. yea, it might move and look like a workable car but why not use new parts?

This law gives WAY too much control over individual citizens into the hands of bureaucrats. There is no fixing that. The problem was how it was drawn up in the first place, so why not bust this one up and just start over?

And we're not talking about library cards....we're talking life & death issues. Anyone who trusts the government with their life is a fool that won't live as long as those who don't.

Bob, I hope for all our sakes you are right! Logic however tells me differently. My problem with all this is that I have never seen a president the leader of our country so divide this great nation. Not in my 55 years! Further I have never witnessed a populace so DRUNK with admiration over a leader that is so divisive in that same 55 years. I think it did happen in th past with Adolf Hitler!

"Admiration?" Obama's approval rating right now is well under 40%. There is absolutely no comparing Obama and Hitler. To the vast majority of Germans, Hitler was viewed as a savior. With his lowering approval rating, and the continued stagnation of the economy, I venture to say that Obama is a lame duck President.

If it ain't constitutional - don't do it.

If you absolutely have to do it - amend the constitution - that's how it works or would, if we lived in a law abiding country.

We do not.

That is the problem right there. The Constitution.

The numbers of people who care about it, and want it adhered to by politicians, are now fewer than those who couldn't care less, including the politicians gaining more and more despotic power and authority over the populace. Power corrupts.

The Constitution is not a living, breathing document that works well in a Democracy. The Constitution is a set of strict laws defining the LIMITS of politicians at the federal level in our Republic.

"... and to the Republic for which it stands..."

The Affordable Care Act would have been struck down at SCOTUS if Roberts did not confuse himself with being a political adviser and state the law can be seen as a tax. Proceedings should have begun to remove him from the bench at that moment.

Politicians have ZERO Constitutional right or authority to get involved in the heath care of Americans, getting between doctor and patient, forcing people to purchase insurance they do not want, etc, etc. It can only lead to the dismantling of the Republic, loss of freedom and liberty, and wreck the economy, like all other things Washington politicians have done to dismantle Americanism.

No nation can survive forever. History shows that. The only issue now is when America crumbles and who takes over when it happens. I hope I am not alive to see it, but fear for my children, who probably will be.

Admiration for Obama?

They use the "n" word for him here. (so ignorant I can barely believe it)

I think it's pathetic, if the color of his skin is all you see maybe you shouldn't have eyes.

He's trying, he just sucks.
Is he going to get better? No, doubtful.
You'd think it was in their best interest to work with him once he was elected, but that's not happening.

Then again, I thought he was a douche for running for another term when he could have left office after 1 term and come out shining like a new penny.

Instead the dick hole thought he'd ride it a little longer and now his shortcomings combined with the people that really hate him will make him one of the most blemished presidents ever.

"You have to finish strong in order to be thought of as competent and or good". He won't finish strong and he'll never be thought of as a good president for stupidity just like this.

If they all dislike you and no one wants to work with you, what possible good could you possibly do>? None. Step the f**k down. They already earmarked you to be downed like an old dog in a kill shelter, just waiting to be euthanized.

I think he is doing his job to perfection. I believe it was and is his intent to destroy America as we know it. He is a Marxist and he despises the constitution. He is lawless in every way, he is a liar and a thief taking liberty from those whose liberty he swore to protect. He declares unconstitutional freedom robbing fiats every time there is a diversion and our eyes are following the "media crisis of the moment bouncing ball." He is a conman and a hoodlum of arm twisting knee capping Chicago style gang thuggery.

Other than that he thinks of himself as a dictator or imperial president who can disregard any law he chooses.

But I guess that if I can't say something nice about him I shouldn't say what I really think about him.....

I deleted my post, Im not gonna get drug into one of these political threads.

I am currently just trying to find some new things to make more money, thats the only cure for my ailments, since my tax load is going up yearly. MY accountant said my overall taxes have gone up 11% since Obama took office. Im grandfathered it at this point with my health insurance but they arent sure what will happen to our rates.

I just try to stay positive, its the only thing that keeps me going.

My 2 separate settlements from my mc accident didn't hurt either  But I've come to the realization that we're all spending waaay tooo much time in the office and not enough in this little thing called "life"

Crip

You are so right. I was driving an hour one way to work, being nagged to death by my wife and if I had any energy left I'd play with a pretty good garage band I was involved with (all of us ex-Pros) on weekends. It left little time for writing new music as well - the band played half cover and half original - a good bunch.

We often canceled. Bottom line - not enough time for life.

Now - like you, no wife, bills much less... I bought a small house close to everything focusing on what I want to do. Trying to keep work hours as low as possible and when I'm settled I want to find another partner like I mentioned before to work on originals (me on guitar) and another band (me on bass) that plays whatever but gigs two or three times a month.

You nearly got killed. My brother was killed last year. I'm getting old...All these signs are pointers in the direction of using your life for real sh*t.

Politics - I'm afraid it's too late for that anyway, and who ever changes anyone's mind? I'd rather debate something musical where we are all civil.

Money? I used to give a sh*t and never had much debt. Now - I just bought a beautiful Gibson Firebird - you can't play guitar on a savings account!
