Not much going on here. And to be honest, I'm glad.
We ( family ) have been entirely too busy.
I have been asked to fill in for an absent sound man at Landmark Baptist Church Sunday.
I'll go in early and familiarize myself with the board & system.
There are those whom would like me to fill that slot full time, so it's an opportunity to display my abilities.
If I'm lucky I wont display too many mistakes in the process.
But then, I can always blame the drummer.

Lets see headed to the lake condo tonight to have dinner with my parents, my son, his gf, my daughter and myself.
Back home in the morning to do some things around the house.
Gig from 10:30 to 2 sat night at a new club called get this, Machine Gun Kelly, sounds like a band name to me.
Sunday rest, plus have a guy coming by to get some of my sound system for this big yearly dinner thing, almost 500 people, so we use the pa system.
Then monday, My son and I head to Germany, I will be there for 10 days, so if you dont hear from me, thats whats going on. My son is going to school there for the next year, and wont be back til next July.
While Im there, we are going to visit a castle, do a wine river boat tour of the Rhine, visit a concentration camp, then next weekend we are going to the MX Des Nations, this is the Olympics of Motocross Racing, 3 riders from each country competeing for thier countrys, last year the US lost if for the first time in ages, and Germany won, so it will be epic. Then we will be in Germany for my birthday and Im planning on going to a real Octoberfest in Germany, I see a major hangover coming on.
So if I dont get back on here this weekend, I wish you all great gigs and great weekends!
Rock On!!!!!

If you are into acoustic guitars at all, try to attend a Taylor Roadshow (go to the Taylor Guitars website for listings). Very informative and fun.
Last night's clinician who demonstrated all the guitars (before everyone got a chance for hands-on) was Wayne Johnson, who has payed with Manahattan Transfer amongst others, really talented guy, check out the audio on his website:

@JW - dude, have fun in Germany. It's a beautiful country.
If you get the urge the bounce around a bit (like visit Italy or something) remember they have Ryan Air over there. Tickets can be bought dirt cheap (like 8 Euros round trip). That's how I landed in Venice for three days.
Europe is a great place. If you get a chance, in Germany, depending on where you're going to be, visit one of the old monasteries. They make their own beer!

In Heaven there is no beer
(No beer?!)
That's why we drink it here
And when we're all gone from here
Our friends will be drinking all the beer.

One thing I learned was the sounds of the different tone woods used in making the acoustics. When you are demoing guitars yourself at a store, its sometimes hard to hear the differences if they are subtle.
I was surprised by the warmness of the Taylor all-mahogany guitar (top and back/sides) - the Guild model I have heard live and on youtube sounds very thin to me. On the other hand, the all-maple model, although very good-looking with natural flamed top, did sound thin.
What was amazing to hear was the taylor T5 thinline. I played the 12-string unplugged, but Wayne Johnson demoed the 6-string. It has 3 pickup choices - a magnetic under the end of the neck and a body sensor(like taylor acoustics) and a thin stacked humbucker.
By changing pickup selection, bass and treble EQ (and plugging direct into the PA for acoustic or into a Fender amp for electric), the guitar was capable of producing a very good acoustic tone, an archtop Guild sound, a middle-pickup Strat sound or a close-to-Gibson humbucking sound.
