My cover band Dover Soul played a set last night at Chatters as an audition. Thursday is Redneck Thursday and they have country bands, last night Yankeeville was the band. Real nice guys, except they made me turn the guitar down.

But everyone loved us and it looks like we'll add another venue to rotate among. Tonight we return to the Dawghouse. I hope I can survive this month.

Ohoh, gonna have to learn some country songs? I always think of that scene in The Blue Brothers when the band shows up at the place with the chickenwire-protected stage and pretend they are the 'Good Ol' Boys' and do 'Stand By Your Man' and 'Rawhide'.
"We've got 2 kinds of music here: Country and Western!"

The Allman Brothers is about as country as we get. We did "Midnight Rider", they dug it. Probably the one that connected the least was "Synchronicity II". I played through as Mesa half-stack, didn't care for it much. The guitar player used to use Marshall but needed something more versatile for country.

Never in a million years did I think I would hear those words come out of you mouth Jimmy! Ha Ha welcome to the Brotherhood!

My neck has always been red, my mullet is turning white, and my collar is blue, I guess you can say I'm Red, White and Blue. Hey that sounds like a song!

It's funny how these days country sounds more like rock than country I remember. I want some acoustic guitars and banjos, not Telecasters and Mesa half stacks!

Jimmy whenever we met up the redneck opposition we would play Long Haired Country Boy, Cant You See, then some Skynyrd and then some ZZ Top, and by that time we ussually had the crowd.
Im a redneck thru in thru, but Im a rockin one!
Sounds like you guys got a new gig, I cant imagine a country guy using a Mesa???? Duh, the first Triple Rec I bought years ago came from this country dude who had it hooked to a lap steel. For some reason he didnt know how to operate it and said all it did was distort, got it for about half price! LOL!

Why did the farmer win the award?
Because he was out standing in his field.
Here's video from last night:

congratulations, Jimmy
That rocks! Yep, country and rock blended in the 80s and now C&W is the home of all the old southern rockers.
Even Garth Brooks likes Led Zepplin.
