Had a great gig with my new group sat night Slap Jr.
One of the highlights was I played my original Just Rent It, went over real well.
Musically we pulled off YYZ live, awesome really tough song to get everyone on the same page with, but for the most part we did a hell of a job on it.
Had a great crowd, any friends on FB can see a couple of pictures, the funny moment was the lady who runs the place is real short, I mean like 4 ft tall, we got her on stage to sing No Parking On The Dance Floor. She is so short I dropped down on my knees and so did the other guys, she still wasnt much taller than us.
I had played in her clubs before and she said she had missed seeing me play. She actually hired us for this next friday night. I already have plans so I cant make it, but the guy who runs the band must have a list of players, so he said it was OK. I gave him the dates Im available in case we can do it again. Hopefully we will keep on rocking.
I got about 20 of my Old AYM fans to come down and they had a blast, especially seeing me try to sing Highway To Hell. One of em said it looked like I was gonna bust something, LOL! I started in too high of a register, hell if Im gonna sing some of this stuff I gotta work on my lead vocals some more, so back to the drawing board, I pulled it off but just barely.
Hope the rest of you had good gigs this weekend, I had a blast, took 2 Les Pauls and the ES 135. The other guitarist broke a sting on his strat so I let him play "Pagey" my main LP, I dont think he wanted to give it back, he plays a Fender Twin and it sounded pretty good thru there.
Oh yeah, we also had this guy sit in half the night, that Scott the singer and myself practiced in a band a few years ago with, but we never did a gig. So it was cool he came out and jammed some songs with us.
I often tell people dont burn any bridges in music. Scott the main guy a few years ago, I said some negative things to him about his playing, i was being honest, I knew he had it in him, and he has turned into an awesome lead guitar player, one that I enjoy sharing leads with. He said he was glad I had that heart to heart with him years ago. Could have been a situatiion where he and I never talked again, but fortunately we kept in touch and have some respect for each other. Your musical community over time turns into a small place with only a hand full of real players, when I say that Im talking about people that are actually committed to getting out o the house and playing, so my advice no matter how you feel about people, DONT BURN THOSE BRIDGES!
