I agree with Starfish. Facebook has problems, big ones. I'm on it (Robert Alan Hayett). Anybody here is welcome to friend me on Facebook if they like. It's becoming a necessity for some businesses. I'm trying to promote my day gig on Woodbright Kitchen Cabinet Restoration. I know one business that was going out of business until they got a FB page, now they're swamped with biz. But, they have done things to me that I find disturbing.

FB is just a big ad these days. Everyone wants you to look at their "service". I have only met half of my "friends" if that tells you anything. I get rid of people regularly if they are whiners, political activists, racists or just plain old stupid.

Twitter seems ok, at least it doesn't shout at you...... yet.
The term 'Social Media' really gets to me too these days. I rarely see real people using it for real purposes except for businesses.
MySpace might be next to go. All I get is Spam from them now, plus they have no API for RN. (Not that RN excites me too much either).

Really - the rebirth of MySpace was an abortion.
Facebook - maybe you've got the wrong 'friends', but there are a ton of people (non businesses) using it. Bands and artists are using it as their primary (or secondary, with mailing list being primary) way to keep their fans informed these days.
RN is just a free place to host your music, etc. It's simple for anyone going to 'your' page there to listen to music, play videos, check your gigs out, without having to figure out where to click to navigate through your pages.
