I was thinking about Vinyl the other day. Man I so wish it was still around in numbers. I remember some years ago there was a big debate and some companies starting making them once more. Sound quality is much better and the artwork/lyrics on covers I think is so sorely missed.

I love vinyl. Way better sounding than that digital stuff...

When METAL died in the mid 90s I became a Techno DJ. (yeah yeah, you would do it to if you were in my shoes)

But in the early 200s the LSD wore off and was back in the real world - ROCK ON!

Yes, vinyl is dead. R.I.P. Vinyl! If you want Vinyl, I will sell you anything you want at 1/3 fair market value. Name an album, bet I got it- if not duplicate or different presses. Test me. You pay shipping. Want a Pioneer turntable? got one. Technics? got one of those too. Anyone not believing vinyl is dead in the water should be inquiring within, or your point is mute, just like vinyl.

Bandcamp is my next port of call. I think it provides a realistic point of view in the tech age. They also demand wave files, and I think that is a GOOD thing too. No one wants crappy mp3's in any case. Anyone thinking they sound as good. The site looks nice and clean and their reviews seem to be real ones, unlike Reverb who use, basically from what I can make out.... ANYONE who is willing to pay a dime.

I don't in any sense own new records. The newest being Dire Straits' Self Titled LP.

I mostly buy vinyl because of the availability of many of the artists stuff on CD. I buy a lot of Big Band, Western records.

Big Band recordings are almost always ruined when put out on CD, they use too much noise removal, or they use bad sources. You haven't heard Glenn Miller or Benny Goodman, until you've heard them on vinyl.

I buy a lot of Sons of the Pioneers records, because I cannot afford some of their CDs. Bear Family seems to be the only one releasing their lesser known recordings in great quality, but a box set will cost $150+. So I go with vinyl for price.

Well, I got my new album up on bandcamp, and saw the buyer options for cds and vinyl, but haven't figured out how to actually get the vinyl copies. Mine would be a double album (total track length is 72 minutes), would love to put a version together with full-size artwork, etc!

Like Chippy said, great that they actually require WAV (or AIF) files for the originals, although people can still download as MP3. The way they get 'paid' is pretty good, too - first 9 download sales, the money goes straight to you, the 10th one they take 100% of it.

Every time I hear the word VINYL, I think about the really bad, warped albums and the rice crispy noise from that crappy turntable you had in the closet for 20 years.

You blew off the dust to play that white album with the spinner inside.. Led Zep III, I think it is..and lined up the pictures while listening to "Immigrant Song" and thinking, "wow this is so serious". lol

On the page where you upload the songs etc there is a section "MERCH" under that you have "add merch" link. Click it. You will get to the merchandize editing page thing. Under the first section "About" select Record/Vinyl... configure the rest and off you go...

...What I am not quite sure now is WHO will fulfill the order for a Vinyl or a CD. I was under impression that BandCamp does, they boast that they can do all formats, and Vinyl option is one of them... Perhaps you can send them an inquiry.
