Dimarzios sound sandy to me. (like some sand in the signal)
I can't get past that.
The JB / 59PAF is a good one.
JB is my favorite pup. Well, that I've been exposed to so far, that is.

I had Dimarzios in my Hamer Special back in the 80's, I liked them, but now I have EMGs in my Strat and LP and love them.

I use Carvin pickups on the neck & middle. On Strats not using Carvins I Mexican Strat pickups. Carvins have 6 pole pieces so there is no dropout when bending. The Mexican Strat pickups have a more midrange.
For the bridge, if I am not going SSS and wire SSH instead, I use a Dimarzio HB or a Semour Duncan HB in the bridge position.

My Strat has two fender and one Seymour Duncan humbucker (bridge position) The Fenders are pretty nice but I lean on the HB.
My Tele Esquire has only the original Tele pickup at bridge. That model didn't have the forward pickup. It certainly screams.

Totally guitar dependent:
55 LP Jr - Bone stock P90
67 SG - Bone stock P90s
79 Lawsuit 335 knockoff - Duncan Jazz neck, Duncan JB bridge
2000 Strat - Duncan classic rails neck, stock mid, Duncan cool rails bridge
2003 Tele - Bone stock
2009 LP Studio- Bone stock
A little bit of everything. Now if I could only do em justice...

Carvin makes some pretty awesome guitars and pickups.
Pretty reasonable prices as well.
cheers!

OOPS. I just noticed all the typos. Carvins have 12 not 6 pole screws. And I meant to say I use Mexican Strat pickups when not using Carvin Pickups (Single coil)

Just got a set of Duncan Invaders recently.
They sound pretty good, but I remember absolutely HATING them over about 15 years ago.
Does anyone know if these PUs have changed over the yearsÉ
cheers!
