I sold a mid sixties Japanese made guitar. No loss. In a Swingline case/amp. Still, no loss. Sold my early sixties Kalamazoo- a loss to me, a gain for the guitar. The guy who bought it restored it to what I think is better than new. You can order a rebuilt muscle car engine from the period and get one that has been rebuilt to factory spec's with today's technology built in. I think this is a good thing. He e-mailed me pics of this guitar in it's present state. Beautiful! My present state is that I believe strongly I have found the best job of my life delivering lumber. I would do this job for half of what they are paying me. When payday comes, I'll be able to get my pawned guitars back. I still have the best guitars hung safely on the wall. I rebuilt my series 10 before selling it to my brother for an excellent value with an amp and training video. This is his first guitar. He has a circle of friends that can help him grow. No regrets.

You take me back...my room mate in LA had an Orange Stack and a Gibson L5S guitar - in the pawn shop on the first floor.

I've played gigs with Jap gear to earn the money to get the good stuff out of hock.

When I sold out and lost my nerve for such ventures I think my music probably took a hit as well. Maybe that is why art is for the very young - when you are too stupid to realize how risky it all is....or just don't care.

When things were going well, I bought those guitars that I've "sold" as a usable investment. I've made a profit on all except the one I sold my brother. Took a heavy loss, but the gain is my brother having something to start with. I know Series10s are not a high end manufacturer. It kept his investment low. I have also found that even low end manufacturers can screw up and make something nice. Such is the case with this one, despite reports of owners disgust of such firewood. I put a whole new whammy system in it- better than new. Very versatile guitar. A good ground base as a first guitar to "go up from here"!
