get real

Do you think if you went to, say, Walmart to get a job sweeping floors or cleaning out the toilet, that they'd actually hire you if when asked what your name was you said DrummerDude887? What is this site some sort of stupid social media? Not only do 95% of the people here not use their name, but instead of a photo of themselves (so you'd actually know who they were a bit more) they post a picture of a drumset or a guitar. How stupid is that? I know what a guitar looks like; I don't know that you are a two-headed walrus. Sorry but I don't want to be professionally involved with a walrus, with all that facial sprouts slobbering all over the microphones. What your lack of a name and face says to me is that you are simply not a serious musician wanting to do anything serious since you are too afraid (?) to let anyone know who you are, what you look like. How many hundreds of hours, if not thousands, of practice did it take you to get proficient at your craft? And you intend to hook up with other folks who have neither a name nor a face to go play in front of people? I mean really!!! Nobody is going to know who you are if you actually succeed to get something happening for yourself? Why do you think bands invest in a light system rather than play in the dark, where noone can see them, not knowing who they were. Musicians are showoffs. Showoffs. You didn't spend all that time in your bedroom as a kid, when all the other kids were out playing ball, swimming in the creek, working through blisters on your fingers to get where you can actually play ... to hide it all? No, after you have gone through all that, you want to get up in front of people and say, "Hey, look at me! I can play tambourine!". As far as 'social media', why would I want to chat with another musician? I'd like to jam with you, but face it you are probably an idiot simply because you are a musician. This is probably THE most difficult profession to choose, so you must be an idiot to choose it. How many girls have said, "I don't date musicians" compared to how many girls have said, "I don't date doctors."? So if girls don't want to date you (or if you are girl, guys just want to bang you), why in the world would I want to chat with you? (Unless you are a pretty girl, then I do want to chat with you. Call me. I am so duplicitous!) If you weren't such a damn good guitar player, I'd probably vote to put you in a sack and toss you in the ocean, make the world a safer place, improve the gene pool. And I say that based on EXPERIENCE being in a s**tload of bands over the years.

Use your name. Post a picture of yourself. Come out of the closet. It is OK to be gay.

PS: If you are, say, 48 years old, and you have nothing recorded of you playing anything anywhere that you can post on this site, what does that say about your degree of professionalism? Hmmmm.

Flame On!

And your insulting, bullying, name calling with a shirtless, homeless, never
grew up,
beach bum looking picture is the right impression?
Good luck with all that.

Also, besides first, middle and last names, date and place of birth, please post your fingerprints and a good sized clear pic of your irises .. otherwise for all we know you might be some random imposter even if you do have a believably ugly photo of yourself posted. btw, how long have you been a janitor at Wall Mart?

BWA HA HA HA! that's a real good way to start making friends on a musician forum and site! FYI there are a lot of musicians in this site that are good, some part time, just starting out or resuming their careers after raising a family. With your high and mighty attitude (L.S.D.) I can tell you are NOT the kind of (wink wink) professional I would waste my time with LMFAO!

Gregory - you've been on BM for over a year, only posted in the forums once before, and the only contact info you have on your profile is a phone number with no area code. You 'own' Ohmegga Recording, yet you don't provide a web link - googling shows you posting similar info on lots of other web forum places but notheing else on this 'studio'. Your profile says you play bass, but at another forum in 2011 you say you 'hurt your hand' and now play guitar.
Who's bullshitting who?

LOL im guilty, my avatar is a guitar. Guess I should hang it up. Oh.. and no music on my profile. Guess I don't exist. I better go cancel all of our paying gigs....

hey GG- You ever consider than for some of us, there's a choice to do our profiles as we see fit? I don't book gigs thru here, nor do I look for talent here (there's a lot of good talent though). I'm here to talk about music, or anything else that strikes me.

I'm not here to appease your sense of righteousness. Maybe you just don't belong here.

I just assumed people with non-human avatars were ugly. Then again I'd rather see a picture of a guitar than a shirtless old guy.

I knew I'd get a rise. If you can't see the humor buried in what I posted, oh well.

Yeah, I nearly cut my left hand index finger off in 2004, and I couldn't play bass because I had no strength in my hand. In fact they said I'd never use the hand properly. Screw them. So I used guitar as therapy. Once I got my hand back, after a few years trying, I could play my bass and I try to practice every day. I am not bullshitting anyone.

I am sorry you all don't like my picture. I was surfing and my wife took my photo. At least I have a photo.

As far as my not posting, I thought that the purpose of Bandmix was to find musicians to play with. That purpose is not facilitated by lack of information upon which to make a decision. Getting into a band is, as you should know, like getting married. Maybe it is crazy me, but I like to see who I am going to be sleeping with.

As far as no links to Ohmegga, if you lived around here, and you listened to what I posted, and you thought that was good enough for you, you could contact me. I certainly am not in it for the money. The last group of young guys I recorded here (Hope for Heroes) I charged them about $4.50/hr. They made it into a CD. If I can help someone get somewhere in this business, then that is payment enough for me (if I am so inclined).

As to my 'righteousness', I'm laughing. I peed myself. Bottom line is that you can't convince me that Bandmix would benefit by being more like a Help.Wanted site rather than Facebook.

I wouldnt think you got a rise out of anyone on here, or not me at least.

I got a good chuckle or two, which is worth some sort of response in my world.

Welcome back to bandmix

"buried"???

well, maybe you didn't have to bury whatever "humor" was there as deep as china. most of us lazy assed musician types don't have the back for that much heavy lifting and digging.

hopefully ya won't be quitting ya day gig to start playing comedy clubs anytime soon.

anyhoo, welcome to forum.

I don't have a day gig. People telling me what to do, and thinking I will actually do it. Ha. Perhaps that is why I got laid off. Or perhaps it was my attitude, but nah, it couldn't be that, as I am such a sweet and tactful guy. The bastards.

And, I have been told countless times that someone whose thought processes are as twisted as mine SHOULD do standup ... the link to the title track off of my Big Baby album (2006) to prove point:

With their current pay-to-chat options, that will never, ever happen. It seems to me that the purpose of this site is to steer bands towards their sister site (bandvista) where they would spend even more money.

If your OP was meant to be funny, it wasn't even remotely detectable, perhaps you should add more flamboyant grammer next time 8)
