I picked up the new Todd Rundgren CD "State" special edition, which includes a CD of Todd with an orchestra. Very cool stuff, reminds me of Zappa.

The 2-disc set is 'limited' - supposedly only 1000 copies.

First disc is 'State', all new music - all done electronically with just a few guitar bits thrown in. His current mini-tour to support this album used a lot of backing tracks, another guitarist (virtuouso Jesse Gress) and a drummer (Prairie Prince - Tubes), light show and a lot fo computer FX.
Mixed reviews - those who like Todd's ballad or Rock songs are generally less than thrilled with this album (includes me).

Second disc is an edited version of the performance he did with the Dutch Metropole orchestra last last year. Very good!

I never watch Letterman, but while surfing through channels a couple nights ago I saw him on there and it totally rocked.

Of course.

He was wearing very tight stretchy leggings on a tour last year. Our table was right in front of the stage - my wife and a friend were constantly commenting on the 'large package' (or smuggled armadillo, as the case may be).

Years ago Todd was robbed at his house. He and that sweet thing were tied up while the robber took what he pleased and hummed "Hello it's me."

Todd said that annoyed him as much as the robbery.

Todd Rundgren and earlier, Nazz, were very big in my neighborhood growing up. I remember playing some of his tunes, "Under the Ice" (it comes in sheets from your eyes...) and "Utopia."

The song "Utopia" was recorded at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I saw that same tour that year, mind blowing.

The Fox Theater show was just released on CD. I have a bootleg of the partial show from a radio broadcast.
Todd is doing another 'best of' tour starting in late July, and also continuing to tour with RIngo as time allows.
