Frustrating seach goes on ...

Sometimes I get frustrated at the endless CL ads, etc.

Is the last few days, I've heard of a couple of the guys from one of the open mics I've been going to getting 'try out' gigs at the same location - Thursday nights, not weekend, but assume they are getting paid something. None of these guys impress me at the OMs (maybe I don't impress them, either) - some have some talent on guitar, some can sing a song (or 2) well. Yesterday, heard a 2-guitar act playing at an outdoor deck of a bar near the beach (it was a gorgeous afternoon after a rainy morning). Singer was not very good at all. 2nd guitar (electric, singer played an acoustic) played some OK riffs in places, but no backup harmonies.
My wife said - 'this would be a good place to play' (for me), and I'm sure in the summer, they have acts most nights, and weekend days, too.
I just have no inclination to do a solo act - and want to do things right (not half-assed, like the trio I played with last year), so continue to search for a partner/duo - preferably with at least a powered PA speaker or two!

Mike I have had that frustration, but I always did play with the same drummer, hell we pulled off a free patio gig just to get some feedback and I'll be damned if we didn't get called back and paid.I found that the trick was to play as if know one was listening and keep it suttle.
The bar owner loved it that way.Played for a nice meal for the family and a couple of friends once. It's all good buddy hang in there.
