Mohammad teaches us with this verse, Surat An-Nisa (4:46)
Among the Jews are those who distort words from their [proper] usages and say, "We hear and disobey" and "Hear but be not heard" and "Ra'ina," twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. And if they had said [instead], "We hear and obey" and "Wait for us [to understand]," it would have been better for them and more suitable. But Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.

Surat 'Āli `Imrān (3:7)
It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding.

the last verse I will leave you with tonight from the Quran.. basically Allah teaching the same thing through the Quran as does the New Testament of the Christian Bible..what? evil Islam stating the same thing as good Christians?
Surat 'Āli `Imrān (3:45)
[And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah ].
Hmmm ...

Dane ... nice to see that you are being diverse in your reading and possibly thoughts ? The important thing I believe is to reach your own conclusions using your own unique thought process and not what has "been written" by others. It is like cleaning the potato cellar... throw out the rotten ones, use the ones about to go rotten and store the good ones for later. Then close the door.

the whole purpose of this thread (if there even should be a purpose) is because I am just fed up with people on this board making out people of the Islam faith to be in some way more barbaric genetically than Christians.. it gets old after awhile, since Christians have the Westboro Baptist Church as their own.. Islam generally is more related to Christianity than it is to the Hebrew faith, which I find nothing wrong with Jews either as a group, but Islam acknowledges the familial lineage and importance of this family of Moses, Jesus and Mary as much as self-proclaimed Christians.. I know for a fact all Muslims do not have an inborn terrorist personality cause I had a Palestinian friend in Raleigh, N.C. that owned and operated a convenience store in Boylan Heights that was a nice as any Christian

but that in and of itself IS the problem. religion is to easy to malpractice, distort, and twist because everyone will interpret it and bend it to their way of thinking.......
yeah, jesus preached love...but surely that doesn't mean i have to love muslims! or those damn illegal mexicans stealing our jobs! or those damn liberals!
hasn't history shown us again and again how religion is all too easily manipulated towards evil (or at least questionable) ends?

and the U.S.A. allows us to worship as we please, or not worship anything at all.. sort of based on the Roman State Religion.. they allowed all kinds of different worship. such as Bacchus, Mithras, Mystery Religions, and variations, Christianity, but you also had to acknowledge the Emperor.. as long as you pay taxes you are good to go.. LOL

Gee wiz Planetguy ~ if your parents tell you not to take cookies from the cookie jar, and you do, shall we demonize your parents? And who is doing the twisting? Those who don't adhere to the religion ~ I would call them atheists. Is that a tautology? I don't think so. Actions declare your belief, not words.

why would we demonize my parents? after all i'm not demonizing jesus for preaching love. that his "followers" talk the talk but don't walk the walk...that's on them...not jesus.
interesting definition of "atheist" you toss out...someone who doesn't adhere to the "rules of a religion". so, an adulterer, or someone taking the lord's name in vain (or insert your religious malfeasance of choice here) is an "atheist"????
nope...not buying it
as for the statement that "Actions declare your belief, not words." we're in full agreement there.

for the record, I'm not an athiest, by your definition or anyone elses, including their own.
I'm non-religious. I personally like to think of myself as agnostic, but that in of itself has predetermined dispositions that I'm not personally inclined to.
That's just the thing, none of you except maybe Mike and PG could even begin to comprehend my religious beliefs simply because you are too wrapped up in the confines and partisanship of your own.
I was actually trying a stab at humor in my original response, but I guess I should have expected hostilities. And once again, my conclusions on religion are confirmed.

I'm not an athiest, and additionally, you have no clue what my views on abortion are. You assume way too much, and that alone causes you to make a fool of yourself.

LOL, time to sip some of the Koolaid!
For me the reality of all religious figures whether GOD, BUDDHA, MOHAMADD(spel snirk), are all creations of man, his interpretations of things that happened from long long ago, passed down thru the generations then interpretted again, at some point the teaching of GOD were translated by Monks or Roman Catholic Church. Does anyone not see the problem in all of this.
I mean two of us here can hear the same story line for line and tomorrow come back and post a completely different version, so people should believe thee teachings as what THE GOSPEL TRUTH?
It just makes it hard for me to comprehend, that because one is a Muslim they cant go to heaven, or are all terrorist for that matter, many that I encounter seem to be hardworking people, those Ive met thru business havent tryed to screw me over that I can tell, they are just people.
Mayber Bacchus got it right, or maybe it was the Beatles, ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!
I believe that we should all just follow the GOLDEN RULE, Do unto others as you would have them do onto you. It seems simple when I write that, but the truth is most people dont treat themselves that well, so that doesnt work either.
Damn IM Rambling, Wish the Capt were here to respond!
Although I dont see eye to eye with him, sometime in things like this he makes more sense to me when I think deeply about it than anyone else.
