Bass Players - Plectrum, Fingers or both

Just kinda looking to see where everyone stands on bass players using a pic.

I personally use both, but it really depends on what song I am doing, how my wrist and fingers feel and always learn a song using the fingers just incase I drop the pic.

Also limited to playing with 2 fingers until I perfect 3 finger playing.

I used to force myself to use three fingers but it wasn't buying me much. Now I use two and the third one seems to know when to come in - fast triplets and whatnot. Number 3 is shorter and doesn't bring as much value as you might think.

Finger style is the most fun but to really roll I often use a pick. I reckon its best to use both since even if you have fingers of steel sometimes they get stiff or just tired and you'll be glad the pick is there.

In three piece outfits I leaned more on the pick since I had to overplay to make up for the lack of a second guitar or keyb.
