Although "The King" had some decent songs in his later years, I think it is unfortunate that more impersonators don't do the "young Elvis", before he went into the army.
Why would people want to hear an artist in decline, while they are at their most sad, grotesque, and pathetic?
You'd want to hear them at their peak, wouldn't you?

If Michael Jackson impersonators catch on, and it's all white women portraying him I would be very disappointed.
You'd want the early-80's "Off the Wall"/"Thriller" MJ, not the insane pale child-molesting MJ, wouldn't you?

I though MJ was acquitted? and I just adore the pale MJ.. when they changed his features he took on new meaning..

10. ya get to wear rhinestone encrusted jump suits
9. hard to do "young elvis" with their receeding hair line
8. ya get to wear a cape
7. how do you justify having a tympanist playing '50's Elvis tunes?
6. vegas elvis probably had more panties thrown at him (even if it was from middle aged women)
5. easier to find 20 musicians who can convincingly cut latter day tunes than finding two who can cut the scotty moore and ed black parts
4. copping earlier elvis requires some pretty good rhythm gtr skills from "elvis"
3. you can be pretty hefty doing "vegas elvis"
