Trying to break a bad habit

I broke away from Television addiction.
Now I think I am stuck on Internet addiction.

Doing things that I know are trivial and time-wasting, when I should be doing something else, but keep doing them anyway.

I promised myself last night that I would stay off of the computer, practice my bass, and write some music until at least 6:30 today.
But, then I heard my dickhead neighbor upstairs snoring...all day long.

I know that as soon as I start playing he will go complain to the landlord.

"sigh"

I listened to some tapes on low volume.
I tried to just sit and think.
But, I fell asleep.

I wish we had some Red Bull.

Sounds like you have a mood disorder. It’s quite possible that you are genetically defective.

You should seek treatment right away.

I don't know if you are trying to be sincere or sarcastic.

You do know that I suffer from severe depression and take a cocktail of antidepressants daily? Right?

Sorry Mike. I'm not going to condemn you. I hope you find what you need.

I am also mildly OCD as well.
But, it isn't considered serious enough to require treatment.
I'm not as bad as Detective Monk, yet.

Figure out a way to use headphones when playing instead of an amp's speakers, that will alleviate the neighbor problem.

I knew there was a reason you were posting 100000 of those links a day.

your neighbor can hear you playing, even at low volume?

I do everything@home using headphones now, but my system is a direct interface design and all my stuff sounds good thru line-outs.

as far as disorders go- do what makes you happy. Depression is a major bitch on a good day and I get that, the only way to beat it is to take control of your happiness. At least thats what the counselors all say.

Thats too bad. When I lived in a small apartment in a complex my neighbors used to knock on my door and ask me to turn it up. When I opened the door later I saw that the hall way was filled with tenants sitting around listening. This was a pretty constant reaction by the other tenants. It was a great place for a musician to live. And it happened almost every where I rented. Maybe you need to move to a "Guitar Friendly" state. :)

When I was younger... I had possession of a Fender Super Rever amp (I called it the 'tubeful wonder). My neighbor upstairs would play 80's disco on his music system...The bass settings blaring so badly that it rattled my front room and bedroom windows. Sooooooooooo... My amp had those side rails that you could position to prop the face of the amp upward... I aimed it for his bedroom. Then i plugged in (had a beat-up tele) With Gain and volume at 10.... and started to play along with the songs he was playing.
It was so bad, thet he never was loud again..

Im my second year of college at McGill U in Montreal, 4 of us had the downstairs of a little old house that looked like a Swiss Chalet, 5 other guys from the dorms the previous year had the second floor.
They'd bounce a basketball around, stomp on the floor to music of Hogan's Heros on tv in the afternoon ...
Our 'stereo' system was a crappy turntable wired up to my Fender Bandmaster (2x12) and a roommate's similar amp (I forget what make).
We won the noise war every time! 8)
