Weird...

I've been on this forum for a number of years now. I feel that I "know" some of you, George, Jimmy, Grant, even Cliffie despite his foibles, Scott, etc. BETTER than I know the majority of people who live in my own cul-de-sac. I've got bunches of Facebook "friends" I "know" about all over the United States. We are living in weird times.
Most of you know that I fish. There's a city park that I frequent that is very popular. There are several walking trails and a boardwalk around the pond I fish in. Some of the people who walk around the park are GLUED to looking at their cellphones as they walk. And some of those people are smoking at the same time.
The reality is that some of us are living in fantasy. You don't know your immediate neighbors but you have numerous Facebook "friends." Others go to a park which is supposed to be a place to get away from civilization and get some fresh air, but the opposite occurs.
Homo sapiens are a very strange specie. When we are extinct, and millions of years later an intelligent race discovers our remains and cities they'll have no idea what we were doing or why...

Aliens probably avoid us because we're still too primitive.

. I've been saying the exact same thing for years.

We still kill each other and we don't work together as one world trying to make it livable for all of us on this shitty little rock. (We're just self-absorbed and uncaring in general.)

(If you were an alien, would you bother with this dump of a planet?)

So what would make you believe that aliens would get along better? Unless they're Borgs. :)

I find our collective behaviors are very well described and the reasoning behind them are documented in the Instruction Manuel.

I think that anyone or anything that can work together as a single unit is going to prosper while the individual is always going to be weaker.

Do I think the aliens work together? Quite possibly so, but they have the tech to move around and thus they do what they want to.

Maybe we'll be equal to their tech level in 5000 years or so, if this civilization lasts that long without destroying the vast majority of life as we know it.

. I believe we've already destroyed ourselves. It's called antibiotics and genetics. Some little microbe will become resistant to everything and wipe us out before we even have a chance to wipe ourselves out with nuclear weapons or whatever miserable weapons we create.

Bob, the internet is a safe-haven for many people. AN interesting phenomenon occurs... Take away the avatars and all the profile bling, and you might quickly realize that we all manufacture the other personas, which in turn respond back in kind as we are writing to each other.

What I mean is , that the prose takes its own form, and morphs into the character we create . We create what we 'want' to envision. Its a way to attach relevance of the forum, to ourselves, by the things we read.

Do you watch the tv show 'The Walking Dead'? That's what I think happened in that 'world' - a microbe was created that turns anyone who dies into a zombie.

I think they established that in the first season, when they went to the CDC.
