Mark, The only Taos Inn I can tell you about isn't in El Paso, Its actually in Taos, New Mexico, (about 5-6 hours North of El Paso). Its a very celebrated lodging location. Not a fleabag by any means. It has a lot of historical value. You'll likely be rubbing elbows with folks From Santa Fe, who are usually very well -to-do (Artist community, etc).

Silver City is actually much closer, (About 2.5 hours). Its a very sleepy , tiny town.

To my knowledge, there is no Taos Inn in El Paso. :(

Congrats on the tour, have a great time!

The first programming language I used professionally over 22 years ago was called BBx made by a company called Basis (www.basis.com). Their headquarters used to be in Taos, NM but apparently they've moved to Albuquerque.

thanks for the well wishes guys.

grant, i looked up the hotel and right you are....new mexico it is. weird that it's listed on the band leader's site as El Paso. they're coming by for a prct this afternoon and i'll get to the bottom of this.

his name is mark raborn. killer banjo player. he can play bluegrass but he's more into the modern bela fleck style of "jazzgrass" and writes some cool tunes. you can check some of them out on his site:

http://markraborn2.wix.com/markraborn#!cd/c1yi7

i'm not sure what he's billing us as. we first got together for a meet and greet/ drink some beer/ and run thru some tunes to see what's to see back in november. felt good. about a month later we got together again and then didn't hook back up til last week after the gtrst/mando-ist and i were invited to play the tour.

i have some tunes up on soundclick from our first get-together. nothing too slick. just a cpl of mics up in the room and we're just running thru some tunes to see what works. talking/discussing tunes and pretty loose w plenty of slop...but it'll give you an idea of the kind of stuff we'll be playing.

cool stuff! Love it

Drove through many of those places since leaving home Jan 4. Tonight, after the gig in Odessa, I'm finally going home from the "West Coast Crazy Tour".

Watch out for New Mexico cops. Speed traps are everywhere after midnight.
And be clean because the Feds have checkpoints that will not be avoided in NM

Harumph! Sooooo......where are the bass solos?!?!?!?!! :( I had to wait until six songs in before a bass solo!

Well, El Paso is far too long a ride for me but if you guys ever make it to Southwest MA....I'M THERE!

no worries, we all have good personal hygiene. that IS what you meant by being "clean", right????? 8)

peg, you book us a gig (or a few) in your neck of the woods and we're there. but wait until the weather is warmer....you people get waaaaaay too much snow!
