Not exactly "new", and they are inconsistent, but here's an example of what I would call good "new"-ish heavy Rock.

Nonpoint - Alive and Kicking

Ya, I like the frontman and the rhythm section.

You know... i DO get being into "heavy" but that does nothing for me. Boring rhythm, no melody to speak of from the vocal, and little to hold interest going on in the accompaniment. And I'm not a fan of that of that mosquito on steroids wall o' fuzz compressed guitar tone. The bass tone is not much better.

But other than THAT...I LOVE IT! hahaha.

My wife likes " new " music .... she goes for heavier rock but with more melodic vocals
She likes this band a lot
Lots of cool guitars .....
I always think the drums are too over the top

DG, I suppose it's OK but the drum fills are dumb and the vocals sound too much like Godsmack. Modern metal has some real issues, maybe that's why it's marketed to 17 year old boys.

Well said. I have a problem with any music that I feel has been "dumbed down" for marketing purposes....and that's exactly the vibe I get when hear drums played like or the cliched over the top gnat tone guitars.

First thoughts were. Wretched bass tone, and it sounded like left over limp bizkit, linkin park. Meh, dislike.

But of course we are all different.

The guitars were pretty monster. The vocals were kind of papa roach. Always loved their name. Drums are tacky.

My idea of heavy rock is here. No quite metal, but fierce.

Lots of people are wild over Mastodon, but I just don't feel it.

There's stuff like this coming out of Europe:
