When bands call them selves heavy metal, but wont accept metalcore or punk singers.. They are just about this same thing right? Or "We're a heavy metal band but we hate metal/screamo." Does this irk anyone else? :|

When they say that they are a heavy metal band, they should expect to get some answers from people they do not want.
That goes with ANY wanted ad.

You never know what you're gonna get, and that usually has some pleasant surprises to it.

Joey Belladona sang Journey songs before joining Anthrax.

Heavy metal is not Scream. There's a million variations of every genre.

Headbangers look down on metalcore, punk, emo, screamo,etc..because they do not show influences of real hard rock and metal..like Dio, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Pantera, and Armored Saint. There's a blend of brutality with finesse, sexiness and melody, image and exclusivity that these new bands are clueless about. Metal is a way of life. Most of these guys have one foot in and one foot out. It's insulting to real fans of the genre. They know the difference.

Don't care. No paying fans for either IMO.

lol

metalcore sux, hardcore sux, emo sux, screamo is awful and Punk is worse yet.

Heavy metal can be tastefully done, it just usually isn't.

+1 for "I think it's you".

Decent musicians cringe when they hear that hardcore, chromatic crap.
I know some people like it, but then again some people like a concussion as well. (just smash your head into a brick wall, it's quicker)

I have a cousin who, as a child, used to smash his head repeatedly into walls for kicks. :?

Yeah I know a few kids that do that..
That's why they wear the helmet.

I used to work with behaviorally challenged kids and we had a few with the head gear.

The one kid threatened to bite my hand. I just looked at him and told him "if that's what he had to do to be ok, I'd be ok".

And he let my hand go.

I never felt such sadness from anyone or anything yet.

Someone asked me if I could "cry" on cue.
I said "sure thing", all I have to do is to think about that kid.

. I always knew you were a good man despite all your foibles. My autistic son has dented chalkboards with his head, put his head through a wall in our house, broke three windshields with his fist, and the top edge of the roof of my car looks like hail damage from his head, and he's NEVER worn a helmet.

Anything with "core" at the end of it.....sends me running.

There are so many sub genres of metal these days, you have to find folks that want what youve got.

So my answer to your question

Its you

Really Scott? Punk is worse than screamo and emo and all that other crap? I'm gonna guess that you've never seen a real punk band. But that's OK, I'm not a big fan of anything you do or like either.

No. Try another band, and another, and keep trying like it's your first try. If you can't find one that wants you, yes. adjust or go solo. no-brainer.
