No Jimmy I am not leaving the forum! I am done with all the political bickering and HATE! Anger takes the life out of you! I am going to TRY to stay out of the political arguments. Life is TOO SHORT! Also I have another band audition (for a GOOD 2cd band) and need to focus my energy on positive things for a change. For the most part I had some fun stirring the pot around here with certain nameless people. However no matter how hard you try you eventually get caught up in the anger and hate. No more from the mulletman I am afraid you guys will just have to survive without me PEACE!

I appreciate the concern but NO I AIN'T leaving! I am however DONE ARGUING I just want to be friends with ALL of you guys and NOT FIGHT! I am tired of the fighting and bad vibes that happen when we call each other bad and disrespectful things! Something could happen to any one of us at anytime and I would feel terrible If I called one of you guys something bad and then you were gone! Or worse I found out later that something bad really happened to you after saying those bad things!

Good idea, you'll live longer without the stress.

I was thinking we could start two threads, say The God Room and The Political Corner and just keep any of those thread topics in there. That way a newbie won't see 20 posts that have nothing to do with music when they come here.

That's actually a good idea, but you've got to get everyone to agree to abide by it.

Jeff , there is no doubt about the peaceful heart you have/are. But the beauty of this forum is that it is one of the last bastions of forums, which have no direct censorship.

You and I both know of a certain dickhead that will never let you go in peace without casting derogatory comments about your home state, values , principles and such... Your only choice is to put them on ignore, or verbally pummel the idiot(s) , if only for the sheer entertainment. It should never affect you, as stress. The key is to not take any of it seriously in real life...

Now, some folk here, are suggesting segregation of the topics...Of course these 'equal -opportunity' posers keep forgetting that notion that if you do this for one interest, ya have to do it for all interests... (Which is precisely tthe notion that drives Congress).

Of course, in this case, it's just another blatant attempt at censorship. And it comes from the sad-sacks, who are tryimg to manipulate the forum to suit their own preferences and tastes....or maybe they just cant take the heat and their pussies hurt? I would simply say to those whiners... "Go F U C K yourselves with a rolled up copy of the 1st amendment..."

Bro, there's nothing wrong with arguing. Even your enemies seem to like it when you do that. Please keep swinging with both fists.

The 1st amendment does not protect my right to free speech on this site. But, when rolled up tightly and shoved up the ass of a knucklehead whiner, a copy of it makes for a painful reminder of an underlying principal.

Now, If I owned this site, I could charge you a premium membership fee, in which I could guarantee house-keeping on the site, to shelter you from those terrible, mean , opinionators. Sort of like a VIP room... (And that's as a right to assemble! ) But, in doing that, I cant guarantee you the broader share of exposure to the full universe of musicians out there. So, you see... Its futile and stupid to segregate your customers like that.

Were all grown ups...we can self-regulate... If We say some cuss words or whatever...my motto.."Deal with it" We dont need a Nazi patrol coming in after us.

even harmony central has separate forums for music and politics, it's pretty much common sense. Moderation there is active, but mostly minimal in that they only ban people for very specific types of attacks (you can't accuse someone of being a pedophile, for instance), you can say F U! and call someone a racist.. many other things. Trolling is almost encouraged it seems lol, but there's a board with simple moderation that still lets people speak their minds.

P-dog - you seem to think that if you cant say anything and everything that it's pussifying everyone, but that's just not true- if you don't believe me, just go visit the political forums at HC.. it gets just as ugly as it does here.. the only difference is that there are at least some boundaries.

ZERO moderation isn't necessarily the best policy, and there's a reason so few boards have none. Separate forums for different types of discussions is simply good design.

Dane, all the moderators and forum moderation in the world won't solve the differences you have/had with LYNARD.

Coercively suppressing one person's communication, just to preserve or comfort another person's sensibilities, is NEVER the right answer.

Kramer... Actually, banning anybody from a private site, is strictly and unequivocally at the discretion of the site's owners/moderators and is always outlined in a TOS. The problem I have with folks, who ban others for accusing them of things like 'being pedophiles', is that there is a distinct possibility, that the accuser was right. MY point is that most, if not all, forum moderators are usually clueless about the laws on Libel and Slander. They are simply functioning on the basis of CYA... and personal bias.

Anecdotal Proof: Zynga is the company which created and hosts the online game: "Mafia Wars". Everybody who ever plays that game knows how badly that game sucks. Zynga hosts a forum (highly moderated).

Moderation got so bad at one time, that to get kicked out of the forum, all yo had to do was register a single derogatory remark about the game...i.e the Design sucks, etc etc. Those guys even implemented a demerits system, where they would issue warnings to you about the content of your posts... And they would threaten to bounce /permanatey ban you... after the 3rd warning, etc...

From what I could tell, the sentiment toward Zynga, was pretty low.

They tried to go public with their stock (in Conjunction with FB)... The IPO failed, miserably... Why/ Cause Zynga Fails miserably at communication and public demands.

Politics there make here look like a friendly game of candyland. The insults at one time got so bad that anyone who disagreed with anyone else was called traitor, terrorist, pedophile, racist, sexist, baby killing neanderthals...

the person being called a ped didn't do the banning, moderators did, because you don't just outright accuse someone of what might be considered the worst possible crime to commit, just because you disagree with their political affiliation or opinion on guns.

anyways...with zenga.. I also knew of a game forum that did the same thing.. I was banned for trolling because I had complaints about the bugs in it.. I get OVERMODERATION, but nothing I've mentioned, or has been mentioned about how to treat bandmix forums has come even close to that level.. if anything else, we've only supported a moderator to clean up the obvious spammers, re-arrange the forums to separate music and political threads, and possibly take action against those who make physical or implied threats. That's not over-moderation.
