Disgraceful

I'm a diehard sports fan and what the Super Bowl has become is a disgrace. When most of the talk is whether the TV commercials were better or worse than last year, then the game really takes second billing. I didn't watch a single commercial nor did I watch the halftime entertainment. WHAT THE HELL DOES BEYONCE HAVE TO DO WITH FOOTBALL ANYWAY? Gone are the days when Bart Starr sneaks across the goal-line on fourth and goal on the frozen tundra of Lambeau field or Alan Ameche scoring in overtime as the Colts beat the Giants on their home turf. A major sport shouldn't be decided on a neutral field. It should always be played at the home sites of the two combatants. Could you imagine if the baseball World Series was played entirely in the Super Dome? What B.S. I'm sorry, but every year I get less and less interested in the damn Super Bowl. Some idiot on a Kansas City talk show said we should make Super Bowl Day a national holiday and have Monday off! And now with the league being sued for head injuries I guarantee that not that long from now the NFL will resemble something like the Bolshoi Ballet. At that time they could even let girls play in the game, even somebody like Beyonce....

I can't talk about it.
I'm still too mad, and sick over the whole thing.

Bob, I been saynig the same stuff since early 80's , when free-agency got its foothold... Nobody believed me then... To them i say .."How do ya like em now!"
I don't even care anymore... Athletics in general has gone so far south that we can see them in the north...

It's called "testosterone"

I didn't see it but I read a review from Bob Lefsitz that said he didn't know whether to dance or masturbate to her performance.

Made me sorry to have missed it actually. So glad the lights went out and God put the game on hold for me to watch the last quarter. At least the 49ers made it a game after that delay.

The lights went out after a 109 yard punt return Hmmm That is awefully fishy this froze the Ravens energy and the 49'ers came back reinvigorated! It was Bush's fault he turned the lights out, Yeah thats the ticket!

Bob it is what it is.

As far as the game I thought it was great, I wanted the 49ers to win and they almost came back. Whenever a game comes down to the last play its great by me.

I loved Beyonce, I always enjoy the halftime shows. I want one of those guitars that blows sparks.

I thought the Clydesdale commercial was great, and also the farmer ad with Paul Harvey talking.

To me its just business, music is entertainment and the SB is one of the biggest stages in the world.

I guess if you dont like it, then why even watch it.

I'll bet most of the football players themselves feel like they're in an episode of The Twilight Zone at the Super Bowl. It's becoming like an episode of Saturday Night Live. They used to have Australian Rules Football on in the middle of the night on ESPN. I used to set my alarm and get up and watch it. No fanfare. Real men with no safety equipment playing a real contact sport. I don't have cable any more so I don't know if Aussie Rules Football is on any more. I wouldn't be surprised if there's still poker tournaments on ESPN. How the hell does poker rate as a sport? How much athletic skill, strength, agility, speed, stamina does it take to sit around a table drinking martinis and pissing thousands of dollars away? Bass tournaments on ESPN with the fishermen wearing sponsored uniforms similar to NASCAR drivers, how the hell is that a sport? And I'm a fisherman!
Then the damn National Hockey League finally agrees to have a "season." My absolute favorite sport of all is bastardized. Why couldn't they agree six months ago to the exact same thing they knew would end the strike a few weeks ago? Idiots. Since they're having approximately half a season and usually play for the Stanley Cup, perhaps this year they should play for the Stanley Jock Strap....

After all, it's just a game. Marketed to the masses who have big parties, and pay little attention to the playing.

. Maybe we SHOUD have a holiday for the Super Bowl. Since holiday means Holy Day and we all worship money.

I just happened to tune in during the halftime show.

I don't really care for Beyonce's music- it's all pop-crap with no soul IMO, but I do respect that she used a live band instead of cued tracks (some was still cued, but oh well). The guitar with the sparks made me laugh.. I saw Ace Frehley open for some band in the 80's and we laughed at hime too, as even then we considered it to be done to death. It's like when ppl smash guitars.. what's the point? Been done to death.

Anyways, regarding the game.. I thought it was overall a good game.. it came down to the wire, which is cool.. SF just couldn't pound it in when it came down to their last score attempt. I know it's surrounded by rampant commercialism, but what isn't these days? I don't like it, but hell.. the invasive marketing done on us every day, as well as the buying and selling of our personal info by every company we do business with is far more offensive to me than superbowl commercials (I was reading a book and ignored all of them as it happens). I only stopped reading long enough to watch the plays, then went back to reading during the 10000 game delays. No big deal, it was a good book :)
