are all Texans Sheldon Cooper types or was it just my imagination when I met real life Texans when I visited there in 1970's.. maybe it's the climate the heat and humidity that makes them grow up that way..

quite literally my first night in Atlanta, years ago, I was hitting every bar I could to meet musicians and find a gig. Ultimately it worked.
But that first night - ouch. I heard some very pro sounding music coming out of this joint and wandered in.
"Chick" singer was belting it out. A kindly dude asked my what I thought of the singer, "That's miss Gay Tennessee you know!"
The look on my face must have told him a lot because he quietly ushered me out of the joint and slapped me on the back and said, "Good luck."

I publish an innocent post about my observations about the people in Texas when I visited and it takes 2 Texans to steer (no pun intended) this thread into a perverse nature... do all Texans think like you 2 guys? I know most are intellectual like Sheldon Cooper, but really..

Sheldon Cooper is born from the imagination of a yankee who has never lived in Texas and bears no resemblance to any Texan, real or fictional.

I personally don't like the show, but somehow managed to watch a few minutes of it yesterday, and what was so dang funny about it, was Sheldon's mom was in the episode and she has a Texas drawl and rich southern accent, but Sheldon has no southern accent at all.. I just thought that was the funniest thing..

I post an innocent observation about folks living in Misery and it takes a tally whacker smacker that doesn't have a clue about a Texan? Dane how many folks have Conned today?

I wonder why the creator/author of the show who is no doubt more brilliant then either you or me, also knows Sheldon Cooper types are so prevalent in Galveston, Texas as to make a show about this phenomenon... not saying everybody is a Sheldon in Galveston, but a high percentage of real Galvestonians are exactly like the character known as Sheldon Cooper.. it's all good.. not an insult ..why does it bother you so much? ..

Dane REALLY? You shouldn't believe ANYTHING a Sitcom writer writes! You have got to be kidding me brother? That is SOOoo old only a backwoods delbert from Misery would fall for it? I PERSONALLY know folks in Jim Parsons circle! In the episode he says "Galveston county" I live their brother! Having said that I am SURE you are Joking so it's all good! Jim is actually from Houston and a U of H graduate. U of H is a rival of the university I work at and in Harris county!

when I lived in Ft.Walton, I took trips across the Atchafayla swamp on I-10 to visit my brother living in Texas City once a month.. I know Texans inside and out..
