Really Mike? How about Band of Gypsys? Or Humble Pie (two of the guys are dead). Most of these albums capture the band at their peak, you'll never see them this good.

If they're dead, an album is all you can get.
But, it still isn't as good as seeing them in front of you playing.

Perhaps, but unless you have a $125 for a ticket, I recommend Peter Gabriel's "Plays Live".

Mike the post ask what are your favorite live albums, not who is your favorite band to see live.

As usual you try to turn what could be a positive post into something negative.

Really Kramer? Three live albums, that's about it? Hmmm.

I just picked up "The Great Deceiver II" by King Crimson. It's a double CD of the Crims in 1974. Truly mind blowing.

I may like that one, never heard of it. Another favorite live is a Video that came out of Japan in 1985, I think it was just called "Yngwie Malmsteen - Live in Toyko". It was never released in the US, but there's rogue copies out there. Why it didn't really make my list was that the audio quality on it was rather crappy, although the mixing and performance were solid- the recording quality itself was just not stellar.

Why I chose the three that I did revolves not just around loving the music and performances, but the mixing and audio quality on those three, on top of the superior performances was what drove them into my list of the absolute best, being a cut above all others.

I know there are plenty of live albums that are equaled in production, but none others come to mind that I hold the same musical affinity for - For instance, frampton comes alive was a great and well-produced album, but I just don't dig frampton nearly as much as I do rush, zep, and ozzy, so it didn't stand out as much.

I just picked the three that made a huge impact on me at the time.

Kiss Alive just really made me want to play music, wear high heels and wigs so what can I say.

All The Worlds A Stage was the album that I discovered Rush, Im not the biggest Rush fan on the planet, but man, I would listen to that album for hours.

Deep Purple Made In Japan, what is that song, the Mule, really great live dynamics, that song still sends chills down my neck, plus Highway Star, man o man.

I need to get those out and listen to them again.

Zep is my favorite band but I didnt include the Song Remains The Same, cause i prefer thier studio albums, nothing wrong with SRTS, but I heard bootlegs of them live that sounded a hell of a lot better than that one.
