I had a roommate who was a SEAL flunkie... He couldnt make it past the Dive phase. They take you down about 120 feet under water, and they start to pull your gear apart...When you try to surface for air, they pull you down and literally try to drown you. Your whole mission is to repair that gear to get your oxygen...As you attempt, they still mess with you ... There is a point where the can tell if youre panicked. t that point, you fail. A lotta guys take to fighting the instructor back. Some even grab the instructors' air.. But that's a bad move cause your usually outnumbered 4:1 ... Its a very serious business and you can't be weak...
My roommate was an outstanding sailor in every aspect...He just had that claustrophobic thing... So they processed him out of the SEALS, assigned him to surface ship command...where I was trying to not panic on a sonar system...
