there are a few great beatles breakup songs for sure, but i always dug this one from jorma and jack (w grace helping out) saying adieu.
"Emptiness ain't where it's at and neither's feeling pain... but all i know is what i feel whenever i'm not playin' "

An alltime classic from Greg Kihn band:

My lead guitarist from an old band wrote a specatacular sort of McClaughlin-esque tribute called "Whatever Happened to the Band?" when we broke up. I'd kill for a tape of that.

'New' old song on the top of my BM player - 'Eye To Eye'. First song I wrote on the piano since high school days, as my band at the time was breaking up (~1986). The words could be a couple breaking up, too, but that was the idea behind it.
Appropriate now ... 'Instant Karma' just broke up, after our 'new' lead singer decided he couldn't commit to weekly rehearsals.

Well that sucks. If you can't commit to weekly rehearsals just do the rest of us a favor and quit. It's hard enough to do music with people who actually want to do it, let alone losers who just waste your time.

Problem with replacing a lead singer in a tribute band is you need someone intimately familiar with the songs - it's not like replacing a regular cover band singer - and the other singers we auditioned were just that. Two others we never auditioned were the same - maybe good singers, but not Beatles singers.
The lead guitarist was the first to say that he was tired of the long commute he had for practice - over an hour, and after that the dominoes fell.
At least I can look back on it as a learning experience, got all my cobwebs cleaned off and chops tightened up.
Now its back to looking for an acoustic partner or band. Starting with a few solo open mics, possibly one tomorrow night.
